WAT,
That's a blast from the past ca. early 1970's.

Think I need to get me a pair but of course the kids will wonder what the old "geezer's" up to.

Jen - OF COURSE their board shorts!!!

That's what I said earlier - BIRDWELLS! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

I wore my first birdys for about 10 years. They were really cool because the wax pocket was over on the side, not in the back like a wallet pocket. So when you were sittin on your board, you didn't have the bar of wax jabbin you in the butt.

Ah, simple pleasures.

The question now, WAT, is could you still fit in that original pair or has the "drift" set in?

I couldn't although it'd be close.

Went down to the beach last night. The surf was coming up. Had to give my chick a kiss. Reminded me of another life.

Weather's beautiful here today. How's your coast? You, too, Jenny.

Probably wouldn't fit. But it'd be close! Actually, I haven't gone up much on weight since I was in college - it just moved around to different places!

Can't see the coast from my vantage point, but it's a crystal day! Different from the gloom seen in yesterday's funeral ceremonies.

Thursday, I'm off to the islands...........

It's early winter here CW, the ski season hasn't quite started yet. I'm not a skier but when the snow hits down south and the cold blasts come up north we know we're really into winter.

I live in the outer suburbs of the city with gentle swimming beaches about 3 minutes away. The drive into the city from where I live follows the sea all the way around. That's the walk I do. Yesterday I went for a walk along the sea front - it was a glorious day, absolutely cloudless but cold. I wished I had my camera. It was so beautiful. The surf beaches are further up the coast - about half an hour's drive.

I don't know if we had Birdwell's here. But the guys definitely wore boardshorts. I used to wear cut off levis. Ahhhhh. Those were the days.

CW, I see you're back on for a while. I should be doing the ironing but, hey....

I was thinking about our "surfie" culture and wonder if it was the same in the US. The "real" surfies were a bit intimidating. There were always rumours of drug use and the girls who hung out with them had "shocking" reputations.

We were just a bunch of weekend surfers. The guys were good surfers but we weren't part of that whole scene.

I haven't thought of surfing in years. My beach going days these days are lying on the beach with a good book, a picnic and H.

Jenny
