I think I've got this figured out. Tell me what you think.
I think I understand now why older guys have all that hair growing out of their ears.
When we get older, we can't see up close very well any more, so when we shave or look close in the mirror we don't see all those hairs. If we don't see 'em, we don't cut 'em, and they keep growing until it looks like grass growing along a fence that hasn't been cut.
I figured this out when I started wearing my reading glasses when I shave. Wow! If only I could transplant some of those ear hairs to the top of my head! Anyway, now at least I see 'em and can trim 'em. Makes me look younger! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
So, what do ya think?

How come you handsome guys have the fuzzy stuff and won't do anything about it? Gotta say, mine thinks it is some sort of macho status symbol. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> Very hard t/b romantic w/that fuzz around. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />
Wat, when r u gonna learn that every time you dare us girls by posting 'guys only'........ the girls reply first. Why? Because we multi-task faster. LOL!!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

WAT, sorry to say you've got it wrong. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
When you get older and you start losing your hair, some of it falls on your ears and shoulders. They're like seeds. The more hair you lose, the more that grows in you ears and on your shoulders and back.

I swear you can drink 4 beers, and lie quietly in a recliner with, say, a golf match on TV, you can actually "feel" the hair on your chest and belly picking up miniscule bits of lint off your shirt, and gathering them all together in your navel.
Takes 4 beers though!

Guys, guys, guys -
Why are you still bothering with the mirrors and the tweesers and the clippers and the razors when you can just march yourself down to the nearest salon and have a nice relaxing wax job?
I swear guys are so slow.
BTW, those are some nice visuals you all gave. Now I'm picturing you all as a bunch of cave men with lint in your bellies and hair on your feet. yeeks!

The hair growing out of the ears thing...
Here's what's happening.
It's not growing.
It's actually the scalp, as a man get's older, is unable to support the hair. The hair starts to fall back in, leading to baldness. Needing somewhere to go, it funnels out through the nose and ears.
That's the scientific explanation.

My wife owns her own beauty shop,,, oh man is she so criticle of hair. It takes her an hour just to cut and style my hair. as far as body hair Im not to hairy on my body,, but I did once ask wife to wax this little spot at the small of my back where I could feel some hairs sprouting... Big mistake she had the wax so hot it felt like boiling water being spread on me and when she ripped it off OOOOOUUUUUCCCCCHHHHH!!!! It also made the small of my back break out with little bumps.... That was an experience I will never repeat. How people can get this done on a regular basis amazes me.

So what's your explanation for the guys who have a head full of hear and still have this stuff coming out of their ears? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />
Now I shudder to think what your explanation w/b about the hair where the sun don't shine comes from. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Well finally, a topic that I have been waiting for.
I believe it was Billy Crystal in "City Slickers" that says something to the effect that I (we) lose hair where we want hair, and grow hair in a place where there shouldn't be any to begin with.
I was just having this ear hair discussion with my ww the other day...for some reason, it was a topic that she wasn't too interested in listening to, go figure!
wat, thanks for the laugh...needed it.

I personally look upon the growth of hair in my ears as "honey-do filters". I haven't found anything positive about the "other" locations.

like orchid said, i couldn't resist w/the "guys only" on the thread. i actually did initially but w/all the responses i just HAD to reply. being from the medical community myself i would have to agree more w/dewt as to the real explanation. it's similar to why men seem to have bigger ears when they get older (scalp shrinking and things are losing their elasticity).
just another factoid to add from my forensic training, hair and nails don't grow after death, it's the skin that shrinks that makes it appear that way....
happy trails!

It's a well known fact that bright people grow their hair 2 make room for their brains.
As I have a full head of hair, a full beard, and hair coming out of my ears, it stands 2 figure that I'm brighter than your average guy.
