Very Off topic question: I have a Villa Antinori bottle of Chanti Calssico Riserva 1979 wine and want to know how to determine its current value.

Any wine connoisseurs out there? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Thanks,
L.

check Wine Searcher.com

I put in the information for your bottle of wine and found two vendors in Europe selling it for $41 for a magnum and $240 for a bottle.

Are you wanting to sell it, or are you wanting the value for insurance purposes? You may want to get an official appraisal (which you can also do online) if it's for insurance purposes.

Oh heck Orchid, why don't you just drink it?

I bet it's delightful.

Dear Kat,

Thanks for the info. It has been educational to say the least. I am not knowledgeable in wine. It was given to us by one of H's former customers. I don't know how he stored it but we have had it for at least 10 years. I don't think he had a wine celler but he had it in a wooden box when he gave it to us.

Now that we are moving, H is thinking of selling it but we couldn't find the value. Also since we are not experts, now we have to see about determining if the content is good or bad without opening the bottle.

I was under the impression that a chianti variety was fairly common (forgive my ignorance) so I didn't expect to see it listed for that much.

I have located a couple of brokers in this area and know there is a wine club of some sort nearby. Will check them out.

thanks again.....

Weaver,
If I can't determine the content as good, I may drink it..... maybe take it to our next MB dinner? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

L.
