My H is still struggling with two addictions (one being the unability to cut 'strings' from a 1 1/2 yr A).

My question is, do you have suggestions as to how I can reach him...make him feel comfortable in opening up to me (or a counselor).

What affects our marriage and hurts me the most is that when he has the urge to contact or act upon his addictions, he does not seek help at that moment in order to 'divert' himself so he will not follow through with his urges.

I would rather have him call me (or a counselor) while experiencing these temptations and try to work his way 'out of' and 'away' from these urges, than for me to "suspect" and/or discover that he followed through with them, thus damaging our marriage further.

Things are not as tense as they used to be at home, but I still feel he is living a "double life"...although he still stays in the marriage and I believe there IS some love and hope left for us.

Just wanted some insight into your point of view.. esp those of you who have overcome this phase of recovery.
