To all,

I think we all need a place here where we can come and visit and take a rest from stressing out about our spouses.

Read, pray, talk, sing- curl up in a chair and sleep, if you need to .

Help yourself to coffee. (Or something a little stronger...)

I've an awesome view on my porch - you can see the sailboats on the water....and the laughing gulls are always up to being fed.

I'll fire up the barbeque...you guys bring the ritas.

Pep,

Can I pet your cats? I was JUST telling dh how much I miss having a cat around. Ours ran away when we moved here.

Sure...

Our neighbor recently died ... and we inherited his 2 cats......

The big fat one is "Tiger".... he drools ... and he is very lazy.

The sweetie is "Two Face" she has half black face and half tan face... she makes bread all the time...

They both pass a lot of gas.....

I think they miss their owner so much.... I do too.

Pep

I love it when they knead!

Sigh. Wish I had a nice lazy cat. Course Rufus (my golden lab) would probably have MAJOR issues with that!

I am falling asleep in this rocking chair to the sound of seagulls...

I am reminded of the lyrics of a song. A bit haunting...

heard a curlew crying long
On a moor where wild winds blew
And the sound of his sad lonesome song
Made me feel lonesome too

Cold winter came and the moorland froze
The winds howled long and long
And often echoed through the snows
I heard that curlew's song

Sweet sun-warmed summer came along
From greenleafed days of spring
I soon forgot the lonesome song
I heard the curlew sing

The Curlews Song

That is the one thing I miss about my old house...my porch. I do have a back deck but it's not the same as a porch to me.

BTW I have two cats, brother & sister, from a litter of five that I rescued & hand-raised two years ago. THomas is orange/white and the fattest thing and he thinks he is a dog. He follows the dog around, rarely jumps & flops on the floor to sleep like a dog. Mercedes is the teeny-tiny princess. Very feline. Will only give our 8 y.o. the time of day for the most part.

Pep - how sweet that you took your neighbors cats! You're a good person!

and a can of RAID Wasp and Hornet killer.

Now the view from this porch overlooks the neighbors pasture. Usually has about 20-25 cows, 10-15 calves running around, a bunch of ducks, a gurgling stream (we can it the run), and a beautiful view of the one the mountains in the Applachians. (Luckily, the mosquitoes aren't bad.)

Well no porch, but a couple of lawn chairs, a big fire pit and a great view of the ships... and in the evenings the sun going down over the Canadian mountains.

Mosquitoes? Oh yeah ...but if I put the smokiest kind of wood we have in the fire pit they stay away (some).

No decent sized front porch here either but we do have a heck of a nice fish pond and waterfall in the backyard! Several chairs and we can get more.

Hey,,,
please pass those margaritas down this way>>>>>>>

My porch goes all the way across the front of my house…it’s really big. It has two swings, one on each end. I also have two rockers and two poodles. An American flag hangs from a pole on a post. The porch is surrounded by azaleas and crept myrtles.

The geraniums, wind chime, humming bird feeder, and bird feeder for cardinals are all on the back deck. There we have two ceiling fans and two adirondack chairs. This is where we drink our mint juleps.

Seriously, the back deck is where H. and I have sat many hours talking and working through our recovery. We still sit there every afternoon when he gets home from work and discuss or “day”.

Hi all,

I don't know about the rest of you, but most days I spend way too much of myself on worrying about what my H is doing, to the exclusion of other things.

A friend once said to me , "don't rent out too much space in your head to one person."

Until last night it had been months since I have read a non-relationship type book, or given my full attention to what is happening around me.

I really do believe that God has things in hand, so I don't know why I don't just relax and enjoy each day a bit more.

This could be a good time of healing for me.

What things do you do to help yourself heal from all of this?

I'm an avid baker. Yep. Anything time consuming. Since it's summer and the beach is a few blocks away, I go there a lot.

Niosgirl,

Perfect. I am an avid 'eater' (of home baked stuff...anything fattening , sticky, sweet).

We need something to go with the coffee. what are you making?

How about ham/cheese or sausage/cheese kolaches for those who like savory, and cinnamon rolls for those who like sweet (I use apples in the cinnamon goo)?

Major taker request - Here's the add I want to put on the 'craig's list. LOL!!!

Wanted:

1 porch with railing - large enough to hold.... shoe case for shoes and slippers (no shoes in our house - ) and a couple of comfy chairs. With a view of the ocean, of course.

Oh yea, a house to go around the porch and an enclosed garage. That's a pretty big order to where we are moving. LOL!!!

BTW, mint juleps? When I ask for one around here, I get funny stares from the bartenders. The closest I got was a mojito @ PFChang's.

L.
