I am looking to choose a new IC (long story short: previous IC was state-funded, no longer, has own practice, but doesn't accept my insurance--arghhhhhh .) I have a list of about 6, but not sure how I go about choosing for the first "session." (I know, once I start I have to feel comfortable with him/her,) but it's just this initial decison. Should I do "eenie-meenie-miney-moe" or does anyone have a better suggestion?

(PS--previous IC does not know any of them on my list; no one that I know knows them either.)

Thanks, once again MB'ers!

i don't know your background but Dr. James dobson's focus on the family has a website http://family.org that has a resouce where they help find counselor's in your area. might be worth a shot.

also i believe on the MB homepage it discusses some things to consider when choosing a C.

if nothing else go w/gender and $$

good luck and God Bless, RR

RR: Thanks for the tip! I just submitted my info. (I'm honestly not being very optimistic after the question of "How long are you willing to travel: 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours?")

Anyway, if anybody else has any suggestions, I'm all ears!
