Hey All,
Went to counseling yesterday with WW. As we where rehashing the terrible week that we had, mostly d/t me and my LB's. Counselor stated that he thought i might be clinically depressed and have been this way for a while, i guess even prior to the discovery of WW A. He has also said this to me in a previous counseling session. I am a health care professional and never thought of being depressed. I guess i never have exhibited symtoms that i thought where typical of depression. Ex. feeling down, flat affect, fatigue etc. Counselor pointed out that my symtoms are more like irritability, easily angered, i do sleep but am a early riser.
Has anyone else been told this with kind of my symtoms?? If so what meds did they put you on? Did it help? I hate the idea that i have to rely on a little pill to help in solving my problems.
Tid bit of other info. My brother who is 2x D in his second marriage his wife talked him into being on antidepressant and it work according to her while he was taking it, but he got stubborn and typically in our family pattern stated that he didnt need to take it and thought it was a bunch of BS i guess. Of course now i see where his second marriage ended up. He was also moody and i always felt like i was walking on eggshells alot of the times around him when we where growing up. He still can be short temper as well. I wonder if is genetic?? Hope not or my poor boys might have to deal with this in there later lives.
Also wonder if over analyzing things WW could be part of the depression or just part of the recovery of Affair.
Comments welcomed.
Thanks,
jets

My doctor told me that he takes anti-D's for irritability. He says some people feel flat, and blue, and others (especially men) get easily irritated.

So I would try it out. You should notice a difference in about 3 weeks.

Irritability was a major symptom of my depression. I really only had two moods: Sad and pissed off.

Anti-Ds work great for me. Its so nice to know after so long that I can actually be happy, calm & nice for a change. Too bad when they finally kicked in, H went out and had an A! But if I hadn't been on them when Dday came, I would have probably jumped out a window (or thrown him out it!)

I say give them a try.

Yep.Add me to the bunch.

I take Remeron and I know that if I were not on it right now,I would be a basket case.I had went off them for about a week when I was "between insurances" and I felt poorly after being without them.

I am going to still take them until I get through my D and a while after that.I so want to get off them though so I can feel more like my old self.

I am also in the medical/health field(RN) and did not want to be on any drugs either but I relented and it was the best thing I did for me since last October.

Thanks for the reponse Believer,Fraggles and O-girl,
Will see family doctor this Weds. Still not all that crazy about being on the meds. Octobergirl why is it us RN's can treat and care for otherse but refuse to accept treatment for ourselves.
Often wonder if WW should maybe not consider them.
She is even more stubborn than i am, also a health care professional.
Is it normal to overanalyze things said and done with WW after A or is just part of the depression??
WW states that i have a tendacey to overanalyze things. Kind of been this way even before Dday.
WW states that i should except things for the way they are and not read into it.

It is perfectly normal to overanalyze things after your spouse has an affair. How could you not? We BS's had our whole world shaken. Everything we thought about our spouse and marriage proved to be untrue.

My Dr diagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder for me. Sleeplessness, utter loss of appetite, polar depression, dark thoughts, dry heaving , panic attacks etc etc.

He gave me 20mg /d cipramil but I must say I shake and sweat and am anxious for 4 hours after taking it each morning so it may not suit me. BUT the evenings are much much better. Some appetite back, less shakes, occasional positivity.

I see doc again next week.
