My exBIL works for NASA on the Mars rover project. I was talking to my son last night and we get off on a tangent regarding all the left brainers on that side of the family. All of a sudden, Z tells me, "OH MOM! My name is on Mars." Okay?!?! He goes on to say that when they sent one of the rover projects up, Uncle xbil had Z's name etched in granite to be left on the surface. Now how totally awesome is that? My boy has already left his mark on a planet that NO HUMAN BEING HAS SET FOOT ON!

BTW, My H has been very impressed with your sense of humor during your trials, he's asked me twice now if I've had a chance to read your posts. I haven't yet but will look when I have more time. Best to you and that famous son of yours! KB

Ark - LMAO...He might be from Mars, but that doesn't make him human....hehehehehe! Sorry 2long...I love you more than I love my luggage, but I can not let a smart a$$ed comment go without adding my own smart a$$ed-ness. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

So we went to a planet made of rocks and we dropped off... what else? Some rocks.
It gets better.

I bought my WW a shooting star last anniversary.
We always loved to sit in the dark watching the stars, making wishes on shooting stars.
I bought one for her - a meteorite. I wrote a note that would sting me to repeat all of here, but it was along the lines of "I caught a shooting star for you to keep - you are all I ever wish for by shooting stars "
A lot of bloody good THAT did me.. * sigh *
Nice though. And Niosgoirl, that is a lovely thing of Xbil to do ! Reminded me of this.

Oh, and can I just brag a teeny bit more? The reason Z called last night, besides to talk to his momma, was because he was doing a report for Spanish class on his baby brother. Now how totally sweet is that....I mean, I almost got a cavity listening to those to talk. BTW: I learned ds#2's fav animal is Stitch...which is very telling, b/c the boy IS Stitch in human clothing! LOL!
I miss my boys being together. When L came, Z said, "Cool, a brother! Does that mean when he's older I can take him fishing?" There is almost exactly 10 years (to the month) between the two.

Oh Bob. I'm so sorry it reminded you of something so bittersweet. I've just been have a cr@ppy few days, and it was a bright spot last night.
Yeah, GC, we surf down here. Not in my town, b/c the waves at our beach are practically non-existant...which is good for people with little guys...no under-toad (hehe). If I go to my mom's beach in Port A, they get some good waves to train on...Z and his friend were beginning to surf this past summer. Pat McGee (surfer/board builder) even gave them some tips. Oh, and we have lotsa parasurfers and sailboarders and of course, sea-doos (I want one). When I was in my old office I could look out over the water and watch them. That was cool. My new office just has a view of the Lex.

NG its a lovely story! Thanks !
My shooting star tale is a happy memory ! WW loved me then, last September our 17th wedding anniversary. It was a romantic gift, she loved it.We went for a lovely , long, talking, sharing meal, walked home hand in hand and made slow, touching, kissing love before sleeping in each others arms like teens. Not bad for 39 year olds after 21 years together !
So much for WW 'never loved me in all our married life" fog. She sure loved me last September !All those hundreds of lovely times we had are not invalidated by the A NOR do I want to stop hearing COOL happy tales like your boys, kay ? Promise ?

My ears were burning!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
Yeah, we'd HAVE 2 bring our own granite! That stuff is hard (impossible) 2 come by where I hail from!
I'm fond of song lyrics. This song, by a late colleague of mine, still brings tears 2 my eyes:
"Lament for a Red Planet" - Jonathan Eberhart, 1980
"Ten thousand times a hundred thousand dusty years ago, Where now extends the Plain of Gold did once my river flow. It stroked the stones and spoke in tongues and splashed against my face, Till ages rolled—the sun shone cold on this unholy place.
So many stars bedeck my skies where once there were but few, But oh, to know again the clouds that hid them from my view. My ochred cliffs and rusted sands stand regal and serene, But oh, my wan and wasted world, I miss your blue and green.
But it's just the weight of waiting, not a deathwatch o'er a friend; Tomorrow has a starting as does yesterday an end. For the water of my river and the air that was my wind, Though bound in rocks and wint'ry wastes, I pray may flow again."
