I live in between Tampa and Charlotte County (the area hit hardest by Hurricane Charley). Ivan is headed possibly right towards us. If it hits it will be potentially devastating - the likes of Andrew. Please keep us in your prayers. It looks like Monday or Tuesday would be the big day.

Faith, Yikes!!
In tampa here. There are already lines in the gas stations and people scrambling for lumber. All this with the hurricane still days away. Guess us Floridians are getting a little punch-drunk with all the storms.
We've lucked out here so far, just some wind damage and scattered power outages.

wow!...looks like sometime we should have a Tampa Bay MB get-together! Maybe an after-hurricane survival party!
You guys be careful this weekend, ok?
I was watching the emergency official guy from Sarasota (where I am) this evening and he said , "if you don't need to be here, then leave now. Head towards the state line". Oh my!
My e-mail is roseandgrace@hotmail.com if you guys need anything at all.
Be safe!

Orlando, here. Aren't you all just tired? Even though I know it'd be best for many if the storm misses us and hits the mostly unpopulated Big Bend area, my parents have, and have always had, a fishing place in Suwannee (where the river meets the Gulf) and I cringe at what that storm would do to most of the buildings and homes in that area. Most of those people have little to begin with. My neighbors had painted 'Bring it on Frances' on the boards on their windows last week. This week I guess they'll just mark through and put in Ivan. What happened to just afternoon thunderstorms? MM

I am seriously praying for all of you, my MB friends, who are in the path of Ivan (wherever he may end up). May the lord protect you and keep you and yours from harm.

How cool is this?! All you guys are so close! After this hurricane passes, I will definitely start working on planning a get together.
I have a decal too, but it's not for MacDill, it's for the Coast Gueard Base in Clearwater (works just the same though). STBXWH is a Coastie. I do go to MacDill occasionally for medical stuff.
Actually, I have a question about ID cards, d_rose, if you have any knowledge of that area.
Back to the hurricane - are any of your guys heading out of town?

NO WAY, Maddy!!!!! Where have you been stationed? We were at Air Station Elizabeth City from March 1999-June 2003, also in Portsmouth from 98-99. It's a small world in the CG, we may just know some of the same people, that's for sure!

I think I'd like an MB Florida get together. Kind of like an AA meeting.

quote:
Hi I'm Tom Joad and I'm the loyal husband of a cheating wife.

Maddy, you better put some rocks in your pockets if you go outside. I saw your pic, you might blow away if a the winds reach 15 or 20mph.
Be careful, looks like I'll be living in the firehouse again for several days.

Well, I was kind of planning on going to a friend's in Tallahassee in the morning. It looks like it's heading there too though. I'm thinking it should weaken before it gets there. This is kind of my plan - go to Tallahassee and then if I need to leave there, go to sister's in VA. Fun... Hours in the car with a 2 and 5 year old.
My question is this: Once the divorce is final, I will lose my ID card, obviously. But my girls will still be his dependent right? (We have joint custody, he's paying out 40% of his income in child support). The guys who make the IDs told STBXWH that they don't give IDs to kids that young. So how the heck do I obtain medical care for them, get on base, etc?

d_rose..I will look into all of those
Tom Joad..lol..no, I won't blow away And if we have a get together...we have FUN!!!
faith, none of those places New Bedford, Ma (lived in RI though), Pensacola and Puerto Rico. He's a pilot and your H is about 4 years younger so maybe they wouldn't know the same people, but maybe
Re: what my experience with ID cards was. My first husband was in the Marines (yeah..it's the uniforms, I guess!)...my son was 3 when we divorced. I was able to get an ID card for my son because of circumstances. I believe they are not REQUIRED to have one before the age of 10, but in this circumstance yes. You will also need some type of letter that allows you to shop at commissary and exchange for your children.
faithhopelove, consider maybe going to mycoastguard.com. I'm an admin there..someone there might be able to help answer your question too, if d_rose doesn't know. Or Fred's place. If you do decide to check out the site (it's a wonderful site) please don't mention my situation please..the only people who know are the admin cuz CG *is* a small world and I'm not divorced yet

Peurto Rico - How about Rich and Carey Dixon? Rich is in aviation too, an officer but not a pilot. CG is such a small world, but aviation is even smaller. I wouldn't doubt if our WHs have met or flown together one way or another. He was in Pensacola in December for "training". He told me it was a week and a half, really it was a few days. the rest of the time he spent in Elizabeth City, NC, visiting who else...OW and family. OW's H is a Coastie too, that's how we knew them. Nice, huh?

hmm...rich dixon..not sure. maybe though.
Yeah, my h's affair was with another coastie pilot. They had a six-week training course in Alabama. Of I liked this girl and she had JUST gotten married a couple of months before. I encouraged the friendship...even gave my permission for her to go to his parents house with him for a long weekend. That's when the affair started.

Oh geez, I'm sorry. Have you thought about notifying authorities, getting her in big trouble?
While my STBXWH was waiting to be transferred down here from NC (we were down here already after selling house), he was staying in the bachelors quarters. A 20 year old girl that worked under him lived across from him. One night after they both went out with other people from work and got drunk, she "pulled him into her room and stripped off all her clothes and tried to get him to sleep with her." He also visited the local stripclub, "Headlights" during this time. Now keep in mind, this is someone who LED a local church youth group for 3 years up till this point. And this is a SMALL town. Isn't that lovely? uggh....
