Yes it can and usually does.
Processing severe emotions all day long burns a massive amount of calories.
Put it this way, at the start of my situation, I was 250lbs and a body builder.
I dropped down to 140, and settled back into around 180. Still way skinny as we speak.

YES. I lost 13 lbs in 10 days right after D-Day, and this was while I was pregnant. I could never again lose that much in that short of time if I tried.

I lost 30+ pounds in about 2 months. I was 175 pounds and went down to about 140. My waist size was 35, but I could have wore a 32. I looked like crap. I am back up to 170 now and feel great. I started taking Lexapro, B-12, and GNC Mega vitamins. I also realized I needed more calories during the day. I found a recipe for homemade weight gain drink. It had over 1000 calories per serving.

Please see your doctor, if you are experiencing depression. Meds will get you back on track.

Yes, depression can cause you to lose weight, I wish I could lose say 20 pounds but instead I eat when I'm down. My W lost say 30 pounds during her depression..

I lost 28lbs in four weeks. Continued on down to 165 lbs and decided that enough was enough. Forced myself to eat although I never did stop taking my normal regimen of vitamins.

Don't mean to bring an upside to this (dark cloud, silver lining, you know), but now that I'm back up to 170, I feel great. Haven't seen a six pack in many years. Not too mention that now when I hit the gym, there isn't any "excess" to shield the growth. Most of the time I remember "this is for me and seeing progress helps".

Now if I could only get a workout machine for my da** broken heart.......

Yup! The "life sucks" a.k.a. "Infidelity Diet" sure makes the "South Beach Diet" look like quite the fad......

One of the Dr's I work with commented on my weightloss and asked me what diet I was on. I told him it was the "My Life Sucks" diet. He thought I said "My Life is Sex" diet.

Yes, depression does cause either weight loss or weight gain.

I was already losing weight before D-Day, and I have now lost a total of 58 pounds.

And my WH said once that it made him mad that women would lose their husbands, and lose weight so they could get another man!

I must say, tho, that I do look FINE! WH's jealousy over this makes (this part, anyway) worth it.

I think Frank is referring to his WW. He is worried about her losing an excessive amount of weight and some have previously asked if it might be drug related due to the OM's lifestyle.

Yes Frank, depression, stress or any number of things could be causing the weight loss. Concentrate on taking good care of yourself and you D, those are things you can be responsible for.
