So, Hurricane Ivan is bearing down on us...

Shouldn't be too bad where I'm at. A day of rain, 30-40 mph winds, but at least we're not taking the brunt of that monster. It's still crazy around here. I think the entire population of New Orleans is on Interstate 10 right now.

I spoke with MIL yesterday. I called her just to see how hurricane prep was going. I hadn't talked to her (MIL) for more than a month, but things were going well. I kinda of felt like checking in on WW, to make sure she was. She lives about 1.5 miles from me, in an upstairs apartment, so I'm sure she is. I suppose calling MIL will suffice.

MIL said something to the effect of wondering if I hadn't called to say hello because I was angry/upset about something. She had mentioned in a previous conversation about "I don't know if you care about what happens to WW" or something to that effect. I guess they really don't get it, do they? That frustrates the heck out of me.

Anyway, I hope the power holds out so I can watch movies tonight!

Hey Ethan. Glad to hear the storm won't be hitting you too hard. Everyone was freaking out down here in FL, thinking we were going to get hit for the third time in a row. We're all breathing sighs of relief too.
So MIL didn't mentio you running into WW the other night then? I don't see how she could think you wouldn't care about WW. If you didn't, you wouldn't be going through all this craziness.

Crossing my finger for you that the power stays on - I hate it when we lose power! What kinda movies are you watching tonight?

She mentioned it in passing. I only mentioned that it was good to see both WW and SIL and left it at that.

I just kind of get that weird feeling that MIL is completely missing my point on all of this. I almost feel like I should reiterate my position. Perhaps OM3 has become more accepted by the ILs and for the same reason that WW is "estranged", the A may have the same effect on the ILs. Alas, MIL is having a hysterectomy on Monday, so I won't push my point too much with her at this point.....

On the Ivan front, he is still looking to keep pushing east. Rain/wind is supposed to start this afternoon.

What movies?

I have SNL: Best of Adam Sandler, and Best of Will Ferrell, Vol. 2.

My mom is spending the night at my place, so anything other movie will be up to her.

I just wanna say "AWWWWWWWWWWW" for havin your Mom stay at your house during the storm.

Anyhoo, be safe. We dodged 3 so far, so, with any luck, that will be your luck as well!

Ooh, good choices there. I love Adam Sandler. One of my all time favorite movies is The Wedding Singer. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at any other movie.
I really like Chris Farley's SNL skits too - my favorite is the male dancer one he did w/ Patrick Swayze.
Have fun, laugh a lot, it's good therapy.

just received an email from my H who says he's okay and has a safe place to stay. he says he's worried about the resturaunt he works out which is right on the beach in the florida panhandle. our house is about 40 minutes inland, he's not staying there so it's empty of people but all my/our stuff is there. I wasn't going to have the stuff moved until next month because i heard that it is better to have furniture in it versus it being empty when you are trying to sell a house. so we will have to wait and see. apparently my mom had called him twice and wanted to know how he was doing, obviously he didn't have the guts to call her back just told me to tell her he was okay.

i feel so helpless from where i'm at, prayers to all, RR

DipiT....
Thanks for popping in. I hadn't heard from you in a while. I hope things are going well. Thanks for lurking on me Of course my mom stays with me during hurricanes. She lives in a small house surrounded by old, tall (but really nice) trees. The past couple of years we've had periods of drought followed by months of rain. So it greatly weakens the trees top and bottom. She's already lost one at the property. I'm sure it'll be fine, but better safe than sorry........

FHL,
The Best of Will Ferrell, Vol. 1 is priceless, side-splitting humor. Everyone should watch that one.

RR,
40 minutes inland, your home ***should*** be OK. As far as the restaraunt on the beach...that's another story. Good luck....

TR,
Thanks. We'll be OK. Just a little rainy/windy. I was a bit nervous over the past week, because everytime they issued a new forecast they would push it a little further west. If that thing would have hit the center coast of LA, I would have been on the NE side, the nasty side, and that beast would have wreaked havoc....... LA goes through spells like that where we seem to get 3 or 4 storms in a row. But FL has definitely been through the ringer this year.

well i'm not too concerned about the resturaunt on the beach is that evil of me? it's hard for me to feel sorry for my H right now. but anyway, i guess my concern is that they have said things about mobile, AL and that's a lot further inland then my house which is about 2 hours from mobile. so i just kind of figured if it can get to mobile then it might get to my house but i'm not really and expert on these kind of things.

thanks for the tips on the SNL things to watch maybe some day when i get a DVD i can actually watch them. continued prayers to you, RR

I'm worried too. I have 2 sons in college who are not leaving because of the Auburn/LSU football game. They cancelled clesses for 3 days but not the game...

I'm not going to sleep tonight.

ladysing58,

I assume your sons are at Auburn? If so, I'm sorry for the humiliation they'll face this weekend.

Poor guys. Tell them not to worry. LSU beats everyone like that.

Secondly,
They'll be fine. By the time it gets that far north, it'll just be a lot of rain......

Wow....

The embarassment your sons will face this weekend....

And then to be an alumnus/fan of the "System that everyone agreed upon before the season that didn't pick us so we found someone that finally did" National Champs......

Oh, the humanity...

P.S. While I'm sure your newspaper that says "National Champs" looks great, we have a big crystal football here in Baton Rouge for ours. I'll be happy to run to campus, snap a pic and email it to you. It'll look great next to the newspaper.

I hope your sons will be fine......

Thanks for the good wishes for my boys.

You are right, an unfortunate combo of USC and AU for us...

I'll save all of my LSU comments because we are supposed to be nice here on MB!

Anyone got the scoop on FWB, FL?

We live in Germany now, but own a home there. It's not on the water, but we're across the street from an inlet on the bay.

Don't know if our renters stayed or left.

Guess we won't really know anything until we hear from our realtor.

Hope I still have a house to go back to next summer.

MK, don't know for sure, my house isn't too far from FWB but I'm not living in the area anymore. but it would seem from the news that i've heard this morning, it really didn't "hit" that area, actually more towards the gulf shores and mobile but i'll wait to hear more from my H. I'm sure that okaloosa county area got hit by wind/rain but to what extent I don't know. if you hear anything let me know. i can't really rely on my H to tell me anything and he will only communicate w/me via email now.

marykat,

It came ashore right in that area and made a mess, from all reports. I don't know about flooding or the like, but there were tornadoes and suc in the panhandle. If your renters had the slightest amount of sense they got the heck out of there.

roughroad,

Are you ok with not calling your H to check in on him?

Ethan,
well i'm not okay w/it but i wasn't given a choice. i don't know if you are aware of all that's happened in the past month but he had sent me a letter and told me not to call him and that he was moving out of the house and to not try and find him even though he knew i could find them. he said if i needed to contact him that i could email him. i've had the mail changed so that it's forwarded to me now so i couldn't even send him something to the house. he said he would give me his new address once he had one. he has yet to do that. but OTH i have moved also in the last 2 weeks and haven't told him either, why should I? just so i could get served quicker? i don't feel an obligation to tell him.

i think not having contact w/him is working on my subconscience and maybe that's why i'm a little "depressed" meaning i have no energy or motivation right now. all my stuff is still at our house and i'm basically helpless to get it right now. i've asked for leave the week of columbus day and i have planned to arrange for movers to come during that time. course i could be saying all this for not if i don't even have a house anymore. right now we are in the process of getting the house on the market. i'm waiting to hear from my lawyer about some things that i want said in the paperwork but he's in florida too so i'm sure he's affected by the storms so just a big waiting game right now.

i'm glad my mom called him though even if she just left messages.
