Hi all:

There is a pretty good thread started by FamilyMatters ( here ) going on and in responding to it I sort of came across a theory or thought that is kind of topical. The thread has been mostly a male thread so I am throwing this out for opinion. On this thread we have been talking about the male role as the servant-leader of his household (a Christian topic). There has also been a lot of talk about the women being the “Proverbs 31” woman on other threads.

The interesting thing to me is that the Bible spells out a lot of what a woman is to do, but in comparison is kind of silent on what a man is to do. So I kind of threw what is quoted below out there off the cuff.

quote:
NCWalker’s aside: Here is an INTERESTING question. There is a difference between men and women. Most men I know are VERY checklist driven. Give us a list, we’ll just do it, no questions. Most women I know are VERY climate driven – the tone of the situation they are in drives their actions. BOTH of us could use a little more skill in each others strengths. Maybe that is why God gives the women the checklist, to say they need a little more planning to help the enemy stay out of their heads. And men get zip. To say they need a little more empathy as lack of a list FORCES them to seek God himself for answers. Think I’ll start a thread with this question.

Any thoughts?

NC,
To me its the overall tone of the words that describe how a H should treat his W that resonate. I see my W's actions as a clear reflection of not only her need to follow the WORD, but my need to direct and treat her in such a way that enables her to follow the word. How can my W embody the directions laid out in Proverbs IF her H is not following the instructions of how to love his wife as described in Ephesians 5:25-27?? So my W's shortcomings are not only my W's shortcomings but the dilemma's of our M in general, which I am to lead in rectifying which is described in Ephesians 5:23. However, my recognition and assumption of responsiblity to my duty in GODS eyes as my role as H does not absolve my W of her duty to her role. GOD will hold her accountable for the type of W she is just as he will hold me accountable for the type of H and servant-leader that I am. I see the two as being interconnected and neither fails if the H follows the word. How can we? I think that's where faith comes in and patience not for the actions of my W to be in tune with the word, but for my actions to move her to a mind state that supports her actions being in tune with GOD's word. I hope I'm making sense. I assume responsiblity for my W's actions as they are almost a direct reaction to my own actions and until my actions are more aligned with GOD's word, then I cannot point fingers at my W. I must lead. If I do lead whole-heartedly in pursuit of the model as described in the servant-leader example, then my W will by GOD's spirit be moved to be a Proverbs 31 W. Even if she is reluctant or resistant to being the W GOD intends her to be, due to worldly enticement or inner turmoil, whatever, GOD's Holy Spirit will overcome all things and aid her in becoming that Proverbs 31 W. There is free will and if she then chooses after a period of time NOT to follow GOD's WORD, but only after I've truly adopted the Servant-Leader model in my dealings and interactions fully, I will THEN have a decision to make if she's the type of W I can live with. Currently, I have so much work to do on myself there leaves little room if any to question her actions or inactions. My role must be clearly defined and adopted if I am to see GOD's blessings in my M and up till now, I have NOT; This is my course now of course and it will take time.

FM

Edited for clarity.
