My dearest, lovliest cousin is getting married on Halloween. Long story short, fall is her and her dearest love's most favoritest time of the year and that's why they chose that particular date. They will be married by a mutual ordained friend, then have a huge party in Austin. Costumes optional - the bride is going as a bride, the groom...well, you know. Being the avid baker that I am, I'll be traveling up there to make autumn sugar cookies for the kiddoes and there'll be a metric ton of candy. Anywho, Shel-Belle sent me the link to her cake toppers, and I thought some of you would get a kick out of them: http://www.mexicansugarskull.com/mexicansugarskull/Novios.htmDios de los muertos is the day of the dead in Mexico - a celebration of those loved ones who've passed are invited to the home for feasting. Shel purchased the ones called "Overjoyed Novios." I love how she and her fiance are including their love of Mexico in their wedding. Shel has spent many summers there - once summer was spent tagging Kemp Ridley sea turtle hatchlings (indicator species that is endangered). I am so happy for them and wanted to share their blessings and hope with the board. Life is entirely too short to not spread joy wherever it's found. - Kimmy PS - My daughter is going as a fairy princess to the the party, and my son has his eye on being either Peter Parker (which would be too easy to make) or SpiderMan (which would be a leeetle harder for mom's sewing skills). My smartarsed oldest said he'd go as a sk8er that broke his leg...

Perfect cake toppers for her. Too cute, too fun.
What are you going as my dear Nios???
I love Halloween. I would never think to get married on it, but hey, that is fun.
My boys will be Peter Pan, and Captain Hook this year, I'm still thinking about what I shall be.
Congrats to your cousin. My cousin is getting M this weekend in Chicago. Love is grand. I'm so tempted to lecture MB concepts to her. I want them to stay happy forever, with no hiccups.
Thanks for sharing the good news.

How totally cool and fun!
I LOVE Mexico, the people, the traditions, the food, the music...
Have always found the Mexican celebration of Dios de los muertos very intriguing. Have a book my mom got for me on traditional foods & recipes served on that celebration.

P.S. I too am looking for your recipe for hamb buns, no bread machine so can I have the other version?
Thank you lil Kimmy.

Jelly! You have to ask what I'm gonna be?
(snort) I'm the hot-blonde who looks entirely too young to have a 14 year old son! Duh!
Weav - posted both versions on WATs thread. Happy baking!

JELLY! I forgot to tell you that I figured out what I can go as....You 'bemember that I told you that I found a SuperGirl tank, right? Well, I can wear that with a pair of nice capris, a nice hoodie jacket zipped just so you can see the "S" on the tank, my hair up in a clippy-do and my glasses! I can be SUPERGIRL! How effing cool is that? I mean, the whole shin-dig is for fun anyway, and uber caus - Shel will get the BIGGEST kick out of it, so will my kids - even the 14 yo! How completely fun is that???
BTW: Didn't dream of Barbie pink dogs last night... Told Nio about the dream...he didn't even crack a grin. I still think it's funnyashell.
Has anyone seen my dog About 3 inches tall With a strawberry-blonde fall
The dog that brought me so much joy Might be wallowing in PAIN Quiche Lorrianne!

Weav - I forgot to ask, does your recipe book have a recipe for mole (pronounced molay)? That is the only thing my mil didn't get to teach me before she passed. I LOVE mole chicken...she made our wedding feast and we had mole chicken (which is uber hard to get out of ivory brocade, btw), but it's also a traditional food for Dios de los Muertos. I know the sauce has peanuts in it (peanut butter if you're too darned lazy to grind the nuts yourself) and cocoa, but beyond that, I've no idea...
