A lot of us KNEW what we wanted to be when we grew up...what did YOU want to be? What (generally) did you end up doing? And if you had your "dream" job what would it be now?

My first was that I wanted to be a mythologist when I grew up. Try 'splaining that one at the Thanksgiving table when you're 8....I then decided that mythology was too general a subject and I wanted to be an Egyptologist (at 9 I read Sphinx by Robin Cook and THAT clinched it...and yes, I began reading novels way too early)....I do thank goodness that I'm NOT now....Egypt is not the safest place for a white girl to be right now....tho the culture and land still sing to me.

I AM in administrative work now. Very computer oriented. I like it okay...specially desktop publishing....go figure.

My "now" dream job. Master baker. Not cakes and sweets...I love baking specialty breads and tortillas - the hours for a Master Baker suck like a Dyson, tho.

Like most boys the fireman thing was pretty high on the list. I also wanted to play football for the (pronounced thee) Dallas Cowboys. I decided in highschool that Aeronautical engineering was the thing for me so I went for that degree. after 2.5 years of college I discovered the recreational side of being a co-ed and majored in that for a while. Decided to join the AF to be a linguist but didn't like being in a plane for 10 hours a day with headphones on listening for the commies to say "tank", "missle", or "bomb" on the radio.

I'm now a financial anaylst for the AF. Sounds impressive huh? I got a really cool desk too.

I have been debating culinary school after i retire, not so much as a profession, but just because I like to cook.

I can't resist and have to jump on this before someone else does......

My current "want to be when I grow up" professions are musician (again), movie director (again), novelist (again), baker, barber, woodworker, and professional counselor.

I'm kind of a professional musician already, but want to spend more time and make more $. I might have to ditch my current band if I'm going to get more "serious", which will be tough because they're good pals.

Gc, I am about in the middle of the map- where the Prairies meet the Canadian Shield.

I get musicians who travel a circuit across Canada, going both ways.

The pay isn't much- I think they mainly come for the coffee and fresh homemade buttertarts.

Niosgirl, Eygpt fascinates me too. My bosses are Eygptian, and they brought me a beautiful Bedouin 'Galibaia' (*sp) dress from their recent trip there. They say it is actually very safe for traveling.

You could always go and learn to make pita in the traditional way, become a baker of Arabic bread <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
