I just had a new revelation <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
It is always being written here how an A is based on lies and deceit. That the afairees don't really know each other. I totally agree with that.
I was thinking about this today. OW "loves" WH. WH is a liar and cheater. He's an adulterer. OW KNOWS this! And yet, she still LOVES WH. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
WH "loves" OW. OW is an adulterer, and very selfish. She also lies and cheats. WH KNOWS this about her! And yet he still LOVES OW. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />
Neither care about the feelings of others.
Now, would you fall in "love" with someone who you KNOW has these attributes? WOULD YOU?
I know I WOULD NOT! I know WH would not have fallen in love with me if these had been my attributes. He would have run the other direction!
This is just an observation I made today. It all sounds pretty sick to me. But apparently, it's true! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Old dogs really CAN learn new tricks! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="images/icons/cool.gif" />
By the way, Thursday is my 53rd BD! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> My kids and all their friends (my friends too) are coming to my house for a party!
AND, the doctor I work for and his wife are taking me to Riverdance on Thursday night!
I'm sooooo excited!

But, after many things happened in my life... I wonder, weren't we able to know IF we were looking at those SIGNS properly, if we had 'open eyes' when falling in love... I believe that people don't change overnight and they had the same 'issues' before, we just didn't see those signs, better to say - at that time we didn't want to see..... <small>[ October 05, 2004, 11:06 PM: Message edited by: Belonging to Nowhere ]</small>

K,
it's so true what you have written and yet I don't think that the two people involved in an affair "think" about these aspects.
They are not thinking logically, that's a fact. If they did think about this seriously and logically, nothing would make sence.
I'm beginning to believe that this must be something "chemically" that happens in their brain.
I saw something on TV the other night and they were saying something like some part of the brain is "switched off" in different situations. (I didn't see the whole report, sadly)
Once they are "out of their fog" their brains seem to function the right way again. Slowly but surely.
I can say that this is true in our situation.
A few examples: OW told my husband that she hated cats.
But she had 13 of her own. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
OW told my husband that she hated it that OWH stinks and is dirty when he comes home from work.
My husband is dirty too and he stinks like crazy when he comes home from work. (this is due to his job)
OW would tell my husband how she was able to "trick out" and lie to OWH without him having a clue. OW really got a kick out of this.
Gosh, if my husband had taken a deep look at this remark, he should of been running from OW.
OW told my husband that she "adored children" and it was easy for her to get along with them!!
But she had gotten operated years before because she didn't want children of her own, they'd only ruin her "lifestyle". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
My husband (NOW) cannot believe that he "believed" all of this. He truly thinks he was "crazy & insane" during this time of life.
The "evalution" of the situation comes much later .....................only sometimes, too late for some. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />

I know that when we fall in love, we do not "see" everything, our vision is clouded.
But having an affair is not the same. It is wrong, and causes wrong to escalate. Wrong from the beginning. Hurting everyone it touches.
Spoiling everything that was once good in many peoples' lives.
My eyes are open, and I still love the man I have known for 32 years.
But, I don't SEE him anymore. <img border="0" alt="[Teary]" title="" src="graemlins/teary.gif" />

Hi bb.....
I agree with you. And hopefully, it's not too late for us.
My Plan B continues. There will be no repeat of this past weekend. WH has not called since Sunday night. I know that I am strong enough now to stick to my values, and my plan. Strong enough to not answer when he tries to weasel his way back without leaving OW behind.
I go on with my life. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
I am staying strong. I can see this may go on for a while. My resolve is just that....resolve. I will see this thru. I will be fine with or without WH.
And truly, I don't even think about WH so much anymore. That makes me feel sad. But less desperate about the situation. I never thought I could live without WH. I now see that I can.
Hopefully, the fog will lift, and WH will see all the things your husband saw when his fog lifted.
Hugs to you bb.

I am headed there. All this deep thought and reflection on life makes me tired.
Always glad to hear from you anytime of the night or day - whichever side of the world you're on!
Have a great day!

Imagine your husband. I don't believe that he is sleeping all that great either. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
He's probably tossing back and forth in his mind and in his bed. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />
take care and have a good sleep

k,
one more thought I just had. What do you think about this idea???
You stick to Plan B (I hope I don't get hit about this idea) but you wrote that it's your birthday tomorrow........
This is what I would maybe do in your situation.
Pack a bottle of wine (or whatever you and H enjoyed drinking) send it to your husband with a little card) saying:
Dear WS, I wish for us that we can someday drink this bottle together. Today on my birthday, I wish you only well and I wish for you that your dreams come true. I wish you happyness and peace within yourself. Dear husband. It's up to you with whom you drink this bottle of wine with. I wish it will be with "me" someday. If the day does come that we drink this bottle together I will "know" that you have "made the right decisions" for "us" without having to ask you. I will "know" that your heart is with me and "only" me.
In Love K
Then you go "DARK" again..............

A very good point.
OM in my sitch is a short-arsed, elderly wastrel, serial marriagebreaker, liar and petty criminal. FWW thought/thinks of him as a lovely man and her soul mate for the second half of her life.
No doubt my FWW lied her butt off to him too though.

Yes, it really is spooky how eveyone's situation with their WS is similar.....
The same kinds of lies, and deception. The worst part of the whole thing is how they decieve themselves. How they lie to themselves and each other!
There really IS NOTHING new under the sun!
My birthday expectations are this - I will hear nothing from WH, because he heard nothing from me on his birthday.
But I am going to go have some fun, and celebrate it the way I want - in peace. No lies, no deception, and with people who truly care about each other. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
Thanks for your replies.....
Good morning to me, and good night to you bb and Bob Pure. Sleep well!

WHERE ARE YOU?
I'm in Washington State, about 30 miles from Mt. St. Helens (to the North).
All things being equal, I'd rather be in Hawaii!!!

K (& all those #'s): Good for you! That's how this journey works. You just keep getting those revelations one after the other. And when you get them for YOURSELF they just make things so much more clearer. They also build one on top of the other, so one day you'll have a pretty good understanding of what went on in your life and some of the reasons why. As far as your "epiphany", he's a similar thought I got while thinking along the lines you are. IMO, the WS and the OP DO recognize the lying and deceitful behavior of each other. In fact, it is what tends to make the "bond" between them all the stronger.
It's like they are the ONLY one's that "understand" what they are going through and "why" they HAVE to do the things they do. They are their own sick little club (2 members ONLY). Truly, they ONLY have each other to turn too, so this just makes all the lies and secrets (that they share) all the more important. Lying is the one thing they share that makes them "connected". Instead of repelling each other (as in a normal relationship) it has the opposite effect. I mean they not only swap stories about HOW they got away with this or that.....but also share strategies in how to lie and not get caught. ["Here let me help you become a better liar"]. It also becomes somewhat of a game...with the 2 of them on one team ....and the rest of the world on the other. (And almost everyone plays games "to win").
Also the analogue of it being a game.....shows you how it makes lying, cheating and deceiving ..."Fun". In addition, yes, they convince themselves (falsely) that they are NOT deceiving each other. Its much the same as "honor" among thieves. Indeed, a false code...but it works for them at the time. So back to your point....I truly believe in the context of the adulterous relationship....all the lies and deception actually make the "connection" stronger, rather then weaker. Why? Cause they BOTH (on some level) know the score going in....and therefore accept it between each other. Without the lies, there is NO A (and they BOTH acknowledge this going into it). Then as the Secrets Grow.....so does the Relationship. In a most dysfunctional way its the lies that "fuel" all the other feelings in the A. Its sadly also the "chains" that slowly Bind the 2 infidels together. Each lie makes them more strongly connected, while at the same time cutting them OFF from anyone else. It really is an unfortunate and sad dynamic. This is why exposure works so well.......without the secrecy and lies.....there is NOT much else for the relationship to fall back on. So as the lies die out.....so does the (false) magic and the appeal of the A. Yes, to us....a liar is someone to get away from. I know, it makes NO Logical Sense to anyone else.........but unfortunately, we all know that not much about A's make sense. They are based on lies ....and that "fantasy" makes a poor foundation. Oh well, just some of my ramblings. IT sure made more sense in my head. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> In any case.....Hang in their kid!
As far as Hawaii, (like the concept) but only if someone else is $$paying$$! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

AHA!!!
You have a very good point, Top Rope!
Also some very good insight!
It's the kind of relationship that just spirals further and further out of control.
They lie, then they make each other feel like it's OKAY. They are being FORCED to do it.
I think you are right! "Honor among thieves".....YES! Thieves of other people's lives, and happiness.

Easy on the "old" there!
Your husband obviously works in Germany.
And you say you are Canadian?
My good friend L is French Canadian, from Quebec.
Hope you're having a great day.....I'm still 52 until Midnight tonight - here!

K,
yupp, I'm a Canadian stuck in Germany. (sentenced to life <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> )
This is what made my situation so difficult. I've been here for so long and my family is back home. (I don't even know most of them anymore <img border="0" alt="[Teary]" title="" src="graemlins/teary.gif" /> )
If I had to start over again, I'd be heading back to Canada. Not only would I be starting a "new" life on my own, I'd have to start all over in a country that I don't know anymore. But shortly after d-d I was going to do it.
My husband "stopped me". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> (I guess he realized that Canadians are "special". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> ) I sure wasn't in the mood to laugh then, though.
hugs bb
