My parents worked as extras for the movie "Harlem Nights".... Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor...

The scene where my parents are eating in the restaurant was just on TV... and there they were, Mom and Dad splendid in their period costumes... beautiful!

Man! They edited out all the "f-words"... coz this movie was filled with F-words in the theater!

It was GREAT to see my parents, I haven't watched this movie in a long time.(don't care much for it, too violent for me)

Mom died in March this year.... and she looked so pretty on screen.

*sigh*

just wanted to share...

Bittersweet Pep.
When I see my folks on just family videos it stings a little, even after these years ( Dad's been dead 12 years, Mom five).

How cool to have a time capsule of your folks having a great adventure, like that movie though, huh ?

Sorry to see you sad again PEP.

I know that must be hard to see them and miss her so much. Keep all those good memories boxed upstairs in your mind so you can take them out whenever you want to. This is just one of them.

Can you describe them a little more so we can look for them when the movie is on again? I am so curious who they are. That movie was a very lingual movie I remember. They must have had a blast with those two though. I would have laughed the whole time I was sitting there.

My girls and I were all extras in a Jackie Chan movie last December. We just saw the film on the big screen at the weekend and it was such a thrill even though we were in it for a nano-second! Most of our best bits must have got mislaid on the cutting room floor. LOVE the magic of the movies. How great for you to have seen your parents - no doubt forever young.

Incidentally, ours was a chinese movie (with English subtitles) so all you in the USA probably won't get to see my starring role!!

H is now working on a movie ~about~ Pryor. It's called "Pryor Offenses"... cute play on words donchathink?

Describe my parents??? Practically the only 2 elderly caucasians dressed in 30's era formalwear in the movie! ~LOL~ I called my Dad up after I posted this to tell him I just saw them on TV again... and he said "When we worked, I had to remove my glasses (frames too modern), my watch (wrong era) and my hearing aid (same reason).... so I was blind, and deaf, and did not know when it was lunchtime." ~LOL~ Then, he cried a little bit talking about "Your Mom looked so beautiful all dressed up."

Just re-read your initial post and realised your mom passed away so recently. My reply sounds so flippant and that wasn't intended. Sorry.

I was also in an Eddie Murphy movie....."Coming to America".

Its the scene when he and arsenio are washing the window at Mcdowells. It was a snowy day in NY and if you look through the window as they are wasing it you can see me drive by in my black car....(1988 porsche). I know no-one knows its me but I know its me.....

I also was on TV when i was a kid. .. I was a regular on Romper Room from 1968-1969. I was 4 and 5 years old.

I was on t.v a couple of times...one small commercial for the school I attended and on the news a few times when my STBX played professional baseball.
I have some on tape...it's always funny to watch them...of course now it only makes me sad!

Wow, Pep.

Reminds me of when my Mom passed away. After the funeral, my sisters found an old record of her singing opera solo when she was in music school. It was amazing to listen to (an old 78). She had quite a voice. She gave up a career in music 2 raise me and my sisters. She went back to work as a piano accompanist for HBHS when we were teenagers, and she taught piano lessons and played the organ at her church.

My house has been in a few movies, but you know that already. I believe Mr Pep is a fan of one of them

Pep,

I think this is really pretty cool. In a very strange way your Mother has been brought back.

I had a shock a few years ago. My father passed away about 17 years ago now. But, about two years ago, perhaps a few more, I am channel surfing and turn to the A&E channel and they have a series on WWII. Suddenly, there is a picture of my father standing next to his bomber. Oddly enough his picture has shown up in several documentaries about WWII. It was such a shock, but as I thought about it, I realized what I have just told you. A&E sent my mother who is her 80's the tape of the program. She watches it every now and then, and I think now it actually comforts her.

Now who was it that was in "romper room" in 68-69? Oh good grief. I was already out of college.

Must go,

JL

Ok, I should first say, I've been trailing Hiedi. I like to read what she writes. The only reason I checked here is cuz,

1)Pepperband started it.

2)Justlearning last posted.

The two of you have been so helpful in our recovery.

If I were the writer my wife is, I'm sure I could relate how I feel about the two of you, but I am an amature, and I do not posses the skills to adequately thank the two of you for all you have done for us.

Pep, our daughter found a roll of film this week and had it developed, we had no idea what was on it. Turns out it was 10 yrs old. There were pics of the kids and their friends. Some pics of me on the day we bought our big station wagon. Pics of my grandmother who died 2 years ago now. Hiedi and I had a great time looking through them, talking about the kids and all the family vacations we took in that car.

Just learning,,,, my step sister was on Romper Room about that time. Not sure how you relate to the show, but I think you may find Hiedi's tie interesting.

Again, you two have been an incredible help to us,,, Thank you.
