Christopher Reeves has passed away. I was never really a fan of his movies but the ordeal he and his family confronted was always inspiring to me.
Many other familys face the same tragedies, but go unhearlded.
I think perhaps his spouse is one of the ultimate Faithful Wives. I mean, none of us really know what goes on, but it sure seemed that way.
It kind of makes you look at all the other WS out there .... and how they justify things.
And then you have Mrs. Reeves, who honored her vows. And the thousands of men and women like her who committed themselves "for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, for better or worse". Those folks are people of strong character.

I too am saddened by this news. Though I enjoyed his movies it wasn't until his accident that he really showed his true colors. He was noble, a real hero. Likewise his wife.

Yes, he was and she is a true hero... and an inspiration. How terribly sad that he is gone.

Tom -
I had exactly the same thoughts. Of course I am done with WH. My thinking is that if they can't be faithful while things are going well, what would happen if things got bad?
Christopher Reeves wife has modeled the meaning of true love all through this.
He also inspired me because he always had so much hope, and encouraged able-bodied people to follow their dreams.

Bye Superman. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />
My mom took my brothers and me to see the first Superman movie while my father was out of town. I still remember that night.

But at this point in my relationship with H (we've been together 17 years- my A's were over a 2 year period) I feel that I am a fairly good wife, working harder to improve our M- which needed quite a bit of improvement, and not justifying anything for my prior behavior. I know this wasn't directed at me, but I still am *smarting* over the comment.

I hadn't heard. Very sad. He was a true champion in the face of tremendous odds. I know a lot of people were hoping that he'd be able to find a cure.
Sadfww:
We've been talking a lot on WOE's thread about how many BSs harbor 2 much anger 2ward the OP. OPs are someone's WS, many times. Everybody deserves 2 be treated with respect. If they are, they'll be more likely 2 choose 2 do the right thing on their end, which can only help all concerned. I'm often saddened that RM divorced his W, rather than try 2 reconcile. My W still believes what he'd been saying all these years - that his xW is a controlling, angry nutcase. It would have been more helpful 2 our recovery if she'd demonstrated a little more empathy and tried 2 recover. I'm sure she thinks my W is a monster or something. I know different, though I will agree that her behavior and that of RM was monstrously selfish during the A.
At worst, we're all human. BS and WS alike. What we do about our humanity is the measure of us. Our legacy. What do we want 2 be remembered for?
best, -ol' 2long
