Bob,

There's a country song by Garth Brooks that reminds me of how you're feeling toward the OM right now. It kind of makes you chuckle when you picture it. I can just picture you w/your cowboy hat, driving that truck into the motel room!

Papa Loved Mama

Papa drove a truck nearly all his life
You know it drove Mama crazy being a trucker's wife
The part she couldn't handle was a being alone
I guess she needed more to hold than just a telephone
Papa called Mama each & every night
Just to ask her how she was & if the kids were alright
Mama would wait for that call to come in
When daddy'd hang up she was gone again.

(chorus)
Papa loved Mama
Lord, how she shined
Papa was a good'n
But the jealous kind
Papa loved Mama
Mama loved men
Mama's in the graveyard
Papa's in the pen

Well it was bound to happen & one night it did
Papa came home & it was just us kids
He had a dozen roses & a bottle of wine
If he was lookin' to surprise us, he was doin' fine
I heard him cry for Mama up & down the hall
Then I heard a bottle break against the bedroom wall
That old diesel engine made an eerie sound
When Papa fired it up & headed into town

The picture in the paper showed the scene real well
Papa's rig was buried in the local motel
The desk clerk said he saw it all real clear
He never hit the brakes when he was shifting gears

(chorus)

Good Hearted Woman - Willie Nelson

Desperately - George Straight

I love all music 'ceptin' gangsta rap. Can't get into that.

Reggae makes me happy and mellow.

Polka makes me want funnel cakes and beer.

Creedence makes me sigh.

Mariachi's reminds me of my mil (sniff )

New Wave/Punk/Thrasher music reminds me of high school

Johnny Cash and the Redheaded Stranger reminds me of my daddy

Nat King Cole reminds me of my g'ma and g'pa and is FUN to sing along with

Um. There's so much more.....

Back country gospel lifts my spirits....

Oh and AC/DC & Frank Sinatra....um....er...gets me in da mood.

Kimmy, you'd have a blast with my record collection.

Red Headed Stranger is a masterpiece.

I've been listening to the Staple Singers a ton lately. Bunch of people singing their lungs out with nothing behind them but a Stratocaster and an occasional drum beat. GOLD.

GC - Have you heard of Brave Combo?

They are a particular fav because of their diversity. They're from my hometown (Denton, TX) - course almost everyone knows someone who knows someone from Denton or who went to school there...kinda like the 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon...They've also won a Grammy or two.

Brave Combo

If you say, "Where the fvck is Denton?" I'll throw popcorn at the screen....

*edited to add link

And if you got THAT one, we're both gettin' old.

I am not a huge country music fan - mostly because it all seems so sad. I do however seem to be listening to it more these days as my choice of music often reflects my mood My current favorite is a crossover - Over and Over by Nelly and Tim McGraw. That song just grabs me for some reason
