Not the man, the label.

Penny Tupy won't let me call him that on SYMC. I shoulda thought about this a long time ago, because when Spacecase and Crystal invited me over 2 www.iloveulove.com, they didn't want me 2 call him that either. I've been using his initials on our private 4ums, but I probably shouldn't in public.

I've been a bit worried that I've "encouraged" others 2 disrespect the OM in their own lives by adopting the RM designation for their WW's OM (not that they deserve much in the way of respect, but the derision is really a wasted distraction from the important task at hand). First was "marathonman" (the one here about a year or so ago, not the "marathon_man" on these days). Then, most recently was DLee.

Now, don't get me wrong. I understand the feeling of hatred for the OM. I still certainly won't say I "like" this guy. But I have said 2 my W that I don't hate him because I don't even know him (which makes me angry when I let myself ponder that 2long).

It's just not useful. Not helpful 2 one's own sitch. And who knows? What if he were 2 see the light and want help here?? What would I call him then? (on the other hand, maybe he'd choose "Rat Meat" as his login name? ...nah, probably not).

So here and now it ends. I will refer 2 the late RM as OM from now on... ...or maybe something like I did before he "became" RM - like OMW's H (only now it'd have 2 be "OMW's xH"). THAT designation "worked" for me, because I used it when referring 2 him in our MC sessions. Made my W think (because she couldn't ignore the OMW).

Anyway, that's it. Done, finito, EOTS (end of THAT story).

Here lies ratmeat...

in all his rodential ways..
carrying plague and pestilence
all the blackened days....

all stand to celebrate his passing most......
cause 2long has kissed his a$$ adios..,.

OK that's really really really bad....
better stick to composing the requiem

ark...who sure knows how to waste cyber space....

Oh well, I kinda hoped it was the man.

I guess that's bad of me.

I don't totally get the don't respect the OP stuff unless I think of the FWP here. I guess that is the destinction...when they become formally wayward in their hearts. I really doubt your FOM is repentant at all.

I know DJ's toward OP is frowned upon over on SYMC but I think it can be taken a bit further than most of us feel naturally able to want to. Better to vent here than elsewhere. I actually found your RM title comical.

But I guess I get it to a certain extent.
It doesn't mean you have to like or really respect him.

YAY for ol' 2long! One step closer to not letting the past dictate how you feel in the present.

spidey, bite yer tongue! That was an important announcement!

I think some choice name calling has it's time and place, and has become a lost art in this age of political correctness. But then, I was a dismal failure at political correctness. I really liked the RAT MEAT label and thought it was well appropriated. Much more interesting than scumbag!

2 Long,
I can't believe the day has come. I remember about 3.5 years ago when I first showed up on the MB doorstep. It seems like yesterday...

Anyway, one of the first posts I saw was you on HOFS' thread calling your W's OM "rat meat." I nearly fell out of my chair.

It seems like the other sites are being a bit short sighted and awfully "PC", but then again I guess they're right. After all you've been insulting those dirty, hairy, disgusting, little rodents long enough by making the analogy to your W's OM.

Take care.

Mac

Dang, 2long, you are one of my idols here. So now I guess this means I can’t call OMM dirt-bag anymore. What a nuisance!

Do you suppose I could get away with "that large amorphous container of loamy soil"?

BTW, ever had rat pie? It was a regular staple in medieval times. Took a bite once - tastes nothing like chicken.

You guys keep it up, and I might have 2 keep using the moniker!

(see, it wouldn't be "my fault" then!)

I can blame-shift right up there with the best of 'em.

I think, for now, I'm going 2 use "OMW's xH" for now

I have just 2 much respect for filthy rodents, I guess.

2long, this might sound weird coming from a FWW an' all but I thought Rat Meat was the BEST name for an OM ever.

My DD came up with one with other day, which floored me. We were talking about her leaving her job cos there's a (single) guy there she likes who has JERK tattooed on his forehead. (not really, but he should). I said not to leave her job because of a man and she said, didn't you leave your job because of the "Eat Ar*e".

Not sure if that expression is used globally or if it's a kiwi expression, or if it's just something my DD came up with.

I liked the moniker "Rat Meat" I can certainly think of worse.
I'm glad I don't care about either of them any more in my life.

Good luck wearer of the red shoe Doctorate, or was it Master's? Still pretty cool.

Actually went to recheck the color of those shoes--they're a sparkly purple-possibly dark lavendar, GB!!! (Boy, do I need a life!)

ol2, I always did have a question about that name, though: did you mean the meat of the rat, or the meat that the rat eats, and if so, what animal would that be?

LINY, I thought I was a dumb kiwi and didn't really get it. LMAO.

I always took it to mean the meat of the rat ie the rat itself.

2long has said it's from the movie "Repo Man", am I right 2long?

I think the shoes are pink and WHAT a typical academic (from one who works with that particular breed all day. )

I watched a discovery kids channel program about rats and aparrently as they are scavenging omnivores, virtually ANY meat that they eat is dead, and well rotten.

That name, 2long is far more appropriate than I ever dreamed ! I might even nick it now you don't need it anymore !

I liked Rat Meat too!!

[pout pout]

I thought maybe he really was dead.

If he did a 180 and came here he could be FRM.
