quote:
Bob Pure is right on, and what this board should be about, first and foremost. COMPASSION. For EVERYONE.
The goal is 2 heal the hurts with love. And us "seasoned" BSs know very well that we're far from "blameless," in having allowed, unwittingly perhaps, the M 2 get in2 the state it was in when the WS chose 2 have the A.
You can be a victim if you want 2. It's your choice. But it makes focusing on the healing a lot harder. I choose not 2 be the victim of my W's A anymore than I want her 2 be the victim of my withdrawl over the years. She "deserves" my love, not my vindictiveness. Same goes for everyone else.

Of course BP is always right on,
I feel you are 2 (for you) This was a great post, and one that many could learn from. I think infidelity sucks, but I do think a M is very much recoverable (is that a word?) especially with an attitude such as yours.
I'm very lucky 2long, my H shares the same opinion as you.
Didn't want to threadjack, but wanted to point out how much I liked your post.

I second what KY said, about 2longs post.
More true paragraphs were never written. This should not only be our goal on this board, but with all of humanity.
And in reading here these past few months it has become clear to me that this is 2longs philosophy, not only in his marriage but in his life.
pssst, shhhh don't tell anyone but 2long THINKS he is athiest, but he is more Godly than he knows.
You da man, 2long!

Its a cool thing that God doesn't need people to believe in Him for Him to direct and use them.
My old pastor once said the trouble with Christians is they sometimes try so hard to do Gods will they do anything but.
2l rocks like Aerosmith its true.

Hey 2long....what models/year of VWs do you have?
I miss mine so much and when you mentioned "How to Repair Your VW for the Complete Idiot" I thought I'd cry. Do you know that was a coffee table book at my house when I was a young 'un?
You make me happy when you speak of VWs, you know.....not that it's hard to be unhappy when there is a Volkswagon Superbeetle in the neighborhood, but still. I miss the hell out of my (and yes, it was MINE) VW camper van with the pop up top, teeny tiny sink and itty bitty stove. Do you know how silly it looked to have my son's mega decked out carseat (top o'the line in the 80s) strapped into the back fold up seat of that thing????? I swear (this was when I lived in Austin) that I'd get pulled over monthly by cops thinking I was some hippie throwback (and this was AUSTIN...HELLO....isn't everyone and their French Poodles hippie throwbacks in Austin?)....only to do a double take with me in my professional clothes and the boy in his carseat.....
Anywho, you make me happy....not the reasons that we're all here....but I'm pleased as punch to have *met* you.

And I happen to know and be related to quite a few. If it weren't that "believing in God" thingy I think every one of the ones I know would've earned their halos a long time ago....2long and my cousin R being the first in line.

Niosgirl:
Well now...
First VW I bought was the 1967 standard Microbus I had for almost 20 years and 400,000 miles. Got it after I sold my 1971 Gremlin ('nother story!).
I had a bunch of VWs after that first one, most of them pre-1967 buses ("Splitties"). Coolest (but rustiest) was a 1959 Westfalia with original semaphore 2rn signals and an original "new old stock" tent. When I sold it, I got more for the semaphores than I did for the rest of the van!
I never owned a "breadloaf" (sometimes called a "bubblewindow") bus (1968-1979), but I did have a 1980 Vanagon ("Brick") camper - great camper, very troublesome engine!
I finally sold the 1967 when I bought a 1993 Eurovan - BIG MISTAKE, as it was more reliable! I sold the '93 a 2ple of years ago and now have a 2002 Eurovan Weekender that has been very reliable (so far). Boy, that thing flies! Very comfy 2.
I still have my 1960 Singlecab pickup and use it as a hauler for supplies for the house. So now I only have 2 VWs, but there was a time when I had 8 splitties in the driveway (and 2 of them ran!!!). Also, still have my 1929 Model A Fordor sedan, bone stock! (but not finished even though I've had it now for 33 years!).
I've had 2 bugs - a '67 and a RUSTY 72. Once while getting in the '72 2 go 2 school, I sat on the seat belt and had 2 lift myself up 2 extricate it. My foot went through the floor! I cut sheets of plywood and put them under the front mats after that. Used 2 have 2 lift up on the doors 2 close them, lest they drag on the runningboards.
Ah, those where the days!
