Cerri, Cerrish, and HoFS are all going to be at my house the weekend of November 13th. (No, it's not a coincidence. )
Since that happy event will be blighted by a business meeting, we're having a party to balance things out!
If you're in the DC area, or if you want to come to the DC area just for this gathering, please e-mail me for directions.
When: November 13th, dusk to whenever Where: Just J's house, Bethesda, MD Bring: A dish to pass. If you like unusual beverages, bring some to share.
Oh, and if you're coming in from out of town, please let me know. We've already got a fair number of people in the house, but there's at least one more bed available.

About as long it will take me to hitchhike from Upper Michigan.
Well my bro lives in DC, I'ld love to give him your email J, but I'm afraid you girls would blow his everlovin, scientific mind. (or maybe not )
Soulloss -
not to threadjack but loved your response to BobP!
If anypone gets a chance, can you keep an eye on Dimmu please? I need to take a break from here but keep worrying about him. He is in a bad place I am afraid.

weaver, I have graduate degrees in Physics and Industrial Engineering. Cerrish has a Master's in Mechanical Engineering, and HoFS is a PhD Agricultural Engineer. He'd fit right in!

Just J -
Darn! I live not two hours from DC but I have to go to H's mom's husband's (he will not call him stepdad - he is only 8 years older than H LOL) b-day party that evening.
If there is ever another get together, please post it! I am so close but so far away this time!
Hope everyone has fun!

Hi J - still a possibility. It may have to be brief and include my son. Please send directions.
Here's wondering if JL got affected by that incident on the red line at his stop. Sure screwed up my commute...........

Hi WAT! Please do bring your son and your SO -- everyone's welcome. I dunno whether it affected JL or not. I know they closed the streets in the area, though, and if he was trying to make it to the airport it might've created a holy nuisance for him. I'm so glad I didn't have to go to that part of town yesterday!
Sorry you can't make it, Fraggles. We'll miss ya. (Only eight years older? Boy, that must create some interesting dynamics!)

Wow! That is a small world indeed. Can I come work where you work? I live in Bethesda and work in Tyson's Corner, and would love to find a way NOT to commute across the American Legion Bridge every day.

Just J..what an awful commute! My wife used to do that every day...except that she started in Germantown.
I now commute from the Frederick area...though I am able to do it mostly on public transportation. So...I get to sleep a lot.

I'd love to have a job somewhere along the Red Line, but no such luck so far. Ah, well. Anyway, if you (and your wife? haven't read your story, so don't know if that's possible) want to come to the party, just e-mail me!

JustJ - I am very disappointed we can't make it!

H is 36 looks at least 5 years older. I am 37, I think I look about 37. H's mom is 57, she looks 45. H's mom's H is 45, looks early 40s.
We got out together quite often - enjoy the same music, nightlife etc. we have had most people assume that the couples are (me & mom's H) and (H and his mom)!! Too funny!! We get a laugh out of it everytime.
H's mom is in same field as H. She stopped in his office on the 1st day in his new unit and his co-workers did not know she was his mom. When mom left, co-workers went nuts with "Whoa what a babe!" "Hey, H, who's your 'friend, etc." and many other choice lines. H let them get it all out of their systems then let them know it was his mom! They were mortified! LOL
So yes, there is definitely a strange dynamic to his famliy! LOL
Have fun everyone! Wish I coud be there!
(edited to change H's age - I made him a year older than he is! Shhh...don't tell him!) [ November 04, 2004, 12:04 PM: Message edited by: Fraggles ]

I work in Bethesda too, right on Wisconsin Avenue. Amazing what a small world we live in. I wish I could make it but I have so much to do before the baby gets here!

kloe, if you're talking that way, then you DEFINITELY need to talk a couple of hours off on a Saturday evening to relax!
And come to think of it, if you've got a baby on the way and you're living alone, call me and I'll give you a hand with some things. We had a real mess getting ready for DD -- she came three weeks early, right after we moved into our new house, and we weren't even remotely ready for her. I'm guessing that you and I in a couple of hours could get all kinds of stuff done.

Go out and buy a bottle of blue stuff (Bacardi's Hurricane) and lift a toast to all of us who can't be there....
Muchas gracias.

And I live really close to there (off of Old Georgetown between NIH and downtown). Let's get together for lunch one day soon, even if you guys can't come to the party!
