Wow.

Saw the "waiting for the verdict" on one of the monitors in the cafeteria a while ago.

I ac2ally thought it would be a repeat of the OJ verdict.

It will be interesting 2 hear the details. NOT in a morbid way, either.

Like, how was the A used by the prosecution? The defense?

Hi,
I'm in N Cal... The news coverage has been brutal. I felt so relieved to hear this verdict. It's just all so horrible, I'm glad it's over. May they rest in peace - Dru

I can't say that I feel one way or another about his guilty verdict.I don't know enough about the story or the evidence to be able to say YAY or boo.But if I had to guess based on what I know from the news,I would say that he did do it and deserved to be put away.

I have heard and been close to(the story) of several men killing their wives for whatever reason(3 times due to another woman waiting in the wings). For example,I was working in Boston when Charles Stuart killed his pregnant wife and said that an african american man hijacked the car and shot her and wounding him.All the while he did it(including shooting/wounding himself) and he was involved with another woman too.The pregnant wife came to my hospital and her son was delivered in our NICU.

Dru,

I was actually driving right by OJ Simpsons bronco the night he had his friend take him for a drive in the white bronco the day of the murder's of Nicole and Ron Goldman.I could not believe all the police cars following him. This was just before they blocked off the freeways. After that, every single person in California was glued to the TV set watching the trial day after day, including me.I have never been so INVOLVED in another persons life/death story before that time.It was intense.

O

Hi OG,

Yep, strange how this affects us. Intense is right. Lacy disappeared just a few months after my dday; my faith in mankind (or maybe just men?) was severely damaged. I cried so much for that woman after they found the bodies - Dru

What I'm curious about is will this have an impact on abortion laws? They did find him guilty of 2nd degree for killing the "fetus" or what I'd refer to as the "baby". Part of the requirement for the Death Penalty is that he has to be convicted of one 1st degree and one 1st or 2nd degree. It makes legal sense to challenge the ruling on killing the baby. Which may end up at the Supreme Court, forcing them once again to define what is a "fetus" and what is a "baby".

Amber had the misfortune of being duped by Peterson herself.

She gave testimony that he had told her that he had "lost" his wife. She just never asked him where he had left her laying. <img border="0" alt="[Teary]" title="" src="graemlins/teary.gif" />

I've always wondered if Lacy ever posted on this site or a site like this. So many people come and go here.

song:

I doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised 2 learn that she was murdered because she found out and confronted her H, and the confrontation went badly.

Very gross.

As far as how the affair affected the verdict:

The prosecution made a good case that Scott Peterson was a long-time cheater, and as long as he could keep his double life -- Laci at home and girlfriends on the road -- he was happy as a pig in mud.

But things changed when Laci turned up pregnant. She'd had fertility problems and the thought when they got married was that she would probably never have a child. But now --

Now happy-go-lucky Scotty was about to be a husband *and* a father, with all the expectations that go along with that -- not to mention all those years of child support payments if he divorced Laci.

As the prosecution said, Scott didn't kill Laci to be with Amber. He killed her to preserve his carefree single-guy lifestyle that revolved totally around himself.

I never had any doubt that he was guilty. Laci got in his way one too many times, and he killed her. He killed them both.

Edited to add: 2long, I think that's what happened too.

Pep, 2long, other So. Cal people...

Have you listened to the coverage on KFI 640? They were thinking that Scott was going to be acquited as well.

Their coverage is really good right now, very informative.

I don't know enough about the case, I mean personally I like it nice and obvious, almost to the point of no getting around the facts.

If he did it....

death is too good for him

If he didn't do it....

he sure looks guilty and being a cheater kind of destroys ones credibility doesnt it?

Its a shame either way
