Hello folks, I originally posted this topic on the emotional needs boards as "A Must-read: TVM". I posted it there because I feel the book offers a lot of insight into a womans intimacy issues and needs. Has anyone read the book or gone to see the play? Let me know what you think? I think every man who has a connection to women must read this book. I think every woman who is interested in re-discovering herself must read this book. It's done wonders for me! for those interested... you can check out my thread, though very short, under the emotional needs section (for more details).

The book (I have not seen the play) was very uneven. Some chapters were funny and well written, some chapters were poignant, and some chapters were a complete mess.
I think the chapter that glorified the female to female RAPE of an underage girl was disgusting. If you change the gender of the older lover to a man ... it would have been decried as a crime by feminists... but because the story was an older woman having her way with a 14 year old girl ... it's told as if it were a loving equal-power sexual encounter awakening the glories of sexual fulfillment (to a child). But it was, in fact, a rape. YUK!
Was that woman-child rape portrayed in the play?

Hello Pepperband,
I don't know if that scene was in the play because I never saw the play. And ya, I have to agree with you that I understand that whole scene as a rape indeed. You know, the funny thing is that little girls and boys have no choice,in rape situations, but to be sexually awakenned... unfortunately their control and timing as to when and how this sexual awakening happens for them in later life, is stolen from them. So I agree YUK !!! actually, double-yuk that one. As for the book itself, yup, some of it is a mess... regardless, I did get alot out of it. Mostly I had fun answering for myself, some of the questions that the author asked in her interviews.
Thanks for posting,
Peace, Odyssey

It's been awhile since I read it... but I'll tell ya what I did find ~ahem~ stimulating....
the chapter where the woman has a boyfriend who likes to "LOOK" at her completely exposed and describe what he sees and why "it" is beautiful and captivating.... just, WoW

Hi Pepperband!
Ya... was that awesome or what!!! Do you think she may have had some kinda hypnotic gizmo in there for him to just look at "it" and then talk about it the way he did? Just kidding! I think that's pretty cool ! What I find even cooler is the fact that the woman could hanle her vagina being looked at for such a period of time... Just simply amazing... more power to her! I don't know ARK^^, but have come across her posts from time to time... does she really bob for poodles... what does bobbing for poodles mean??? I have this image of a kids swimming pool full of swimming poodles that this ark is swimming around trying to catch in her mouth without using her arms... Powerful mental image I tell you!
