Please see GC's thread asking what we BSs are doing about it, but I've a vent.
Last Christmas, Nio had to work...no big. Had Christmas at my mom's, and all the cousin's were there so I TOLD Nio before that maybe the kids could spend the night so they could all play together....I get a basic shrug of the shoulders over the phone. No big, I think, so I let the kids stay. Got chewed a new one when I got home about him maybe wanting to spend Christmas with his kids (he'd made time to come open presents with us that morning already) - to top it off, he was going the next day to pick up mija, so then we'd ALL be together. But I'd let the kids spend the night because I had an um....ulterior....um...motive, not that his 'tude was at all conducive to that....nope, just got my feelers hurt. No big deal, right....Kimmy's got an unlimited supply of feelers, huh?
Cut to Halloween. You know - Shel got married...that's supposed to happen like, what? Once in a lifetime? Usually, anyway (besides, her Prince Charming was SO worth her waiting for...I am so happy for them) So, Nio knows for how long that we would be going to Bastrop to pick up Z, then swing around to Austin for the wedding, then back to Bastrop to drop off Z, then drive all the way home....okay this was a round trip of maybe 3 hours each way....then another 3 to socialize and love everyone I've not seen in forever - some in so many years they only remembered me as a little girl, then uncle Virgil has car trouble on the way home.....and Nio gives me ATTITUDE because "he might've, you know, wanted to take the kids trick or treating or something...." Okay. I'd planned on taking them ToT, but it didn't work that way. Shel-bel had provided enough candy and treats (not to mention Rudy's bbq) to ensure that the kids would need to be periodically scraped off the ceiling of the minivan at regular intervals just so I didn't pull over and throttle the darling babies. IT JUST DIDN'T WORK THE WAY I'D PLANNED IT. Oops, sorry....but NOT! I really wasn't sorry...the old Kim would've been falling all over herself apologizing, the new Kim was a tad worse than miffed.
Cut to this weekend. Saturday, the kids and I get up right AFTER he leaves. We go to the $100 store around 7 in the morning and have a great time fartin' around, looking at Christmas stuff (pushing all the buttons on the automatic singing Christmas animals - I'll bet the associates HATED us), picked up so crafts to do for Christmas, and swung by the bakery for donuts. When we got home, I notice the padlock on our gate is on (but not locked) we never lock it unless we're gonna be gone awhile. So we get upstairs with our goodies, then go down to the under the house storage and get out the Christmas stuff we still had down there. Once upstairs I ask the kids if they want to call Daddy and ask him if he wants to come home for lunch for hot sandwiches and soup b/c it's gotten cold (32 degrees....brrrrr....doancha say a word Jel but 32 degrees is freezin' our arses off cold down here....it's almost 70 again, tho <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> ). I asked if he'd come home earlier & yep he'd come to change into his long sleeved uni and asked where we where. I told him, and got "Oh....I thought you'd gone to your mother's and was starting to get pissed...." Um, hello? What? Whatever. I figured all the snot in his head had frozen to his brain or something. The kids and I decorated and had fun...btw - all the flooding that we had last spring, well, it got some of my Christmas/fall stuff - I threw out so much....and what I could save....lets just say I am so allergic to mold that my face swelled up, my nose and lips HURT and I had to take two benedryl....THANK YOU GOD FOR FABREEZE ALLERGEN REDUCER! I woke yesterday with my eyes gummy, but a lot better (plus it was nice enough to open the house a bit).
So I called yesterday and told him I was going to storage to get the rest of the Christmas stuff. Put the tree up and the lights on. Watched "The...the...the...the...GRINCH" for the 5,670,125th time (and it still gets better). I thought (I really should quit this thinking stuff....it really hasn't been good for me), that after last Christmas' fiasco, then Halloween's fiasco that Nio'd be hurt if we put the ornaments up without him. Hmm. I belong in Idiotville. Seriously. After he gets home and we have dinner, I began unwrapping the ornaments from their tissue paper and handing them to the kids. Where is Nio, you might ask. Sitting in the Lazyboy watching Ocean's 11 (which, btw, he's seen, but I haven't). At one point my youngest is so excited he couldn't but barely contain himself and was being pretty loud...what does Nio do? Does he get up to help? Does he say, "Hey son, I know you're having fun, but use your inside voice, please?" Nope. He turns the volume up on the TV. So my babies decorate the tree gorgeously....which means all of the decorations are around the bottom of the tree, which is as high as they could reach (grin). We clean up the tissue, they have some (homemade, I might add, pineapple upside down cake) brush their teeth and go to bed.
I asked Nio why he didn't help. He asked me why I put the tree up so early (I had told him this, and so I'm telling you all now, I put the tree up early because we only get a short time with my oldest, Z, and our other two little ones, and I wanted each time they were here to be fun and warm and exciting and pretty....aren't I and ogre...such a horrible person really to put someone's movie watching out for such a thing). He told me the tree should go up AFTER Thanksgiving....granted I'd told him I wanted to decorate early and really gotten neither a no or yes either way (LINY - refer to the mind reading vs. mind sucking vacuum comment - if you were me, which would you druther?).
So, GC asked what we BSs are doing.........go read what I'm doing now. My lb is gone, and I've no idea where my feelers went, because when I try to feel anything for him, I get just about nada. I look forward to the holidays just for the kids and the fact that once they're over, maybe, just maybe Nio'll be hired on somewhere and either pull his head out of his [censored] and become a human again and we can move, or he can move by himself....but either way, I'm having my happily ever after because I'M DUE DAGNABIT.
