My boyfriend and I just had our 1 year anniversary, 2 days ago. How long is it typical to wait before you should anticipate and or expect a marriage proposal? I'm not pushing him or anything, I was just wondering what's appropriate and typical.

One should never EXPECT a marriage proposal. You can want one, however expecting it takes the fun out of it. He will when he is ready to propose. How long one should date depends a lot on your age. How old are you and he?

If you love him that much and know you want to spend the rest of your life with him, you could always ask him. However my vote is just continue to build your relationship, when you are ready it will happen.

I don' think there is a timeline although I always believed that if you know it is right, that it happens fast....that being said, my H proposed to me 9 months after we met and we got married 6 months later.
