I have just been through one of the blackest nights ever following a conversation with WH. I've been crying for an hour. This is the first time I've given myself permission to cry. I need to get the worst out while the kids are still asleep. I prayed a lot last night. After a while, it boiled down to this:
Dear Lord,
Please
-Lend me the strength to carry the burdens thrust upon me.
-Give me the courage to go forward when all I want to do is hide.
-Show me the words to speak constructively to those around me.
-Fill me with compassion so I can move past my hurt and help others.
-Let me see the bright side so no time is ever as dark as this one.
Lord, please grant my prayer.

Lord I rejoin Carol's prayer, Amen.
I pray also that you grant Carol the belief that even two months from now whe will be more confident, more able, more hopeful than she can even imagine is possible right now. Grant her YOUR peace Lord as the shock of her situation makes her spirit reel.
And grant her solace in you.

Carol,
During my darkest hours psalm 37 has been a comfort to me.
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the Land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice our your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry our their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil. For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
Lord, grant Carol the peace her heart so needs and desires at this moment. Let her lean on you and trust in your love and faithfulness. Let her not put her hope in man but in you Father.
I pray this in the name of Jesus our Lord and Savior. Amen

oh, HC, I cried when I read your post - I relived the desolation! But trust us all in this: it truly does pass! And God is indeed always there and there truly is a silver lining! It feels lost, hopeless, never-ending - but it's not!
