Important Information about login problems: Many of you have been having difficulty with remaining logged in to the forums. We apologize for this problem. One of the issues that comes up is using the proper URL when accessing all of the forum pages. In other words, the forum URL MUST always begin: http://www.marriagebuilders.com/ for your browser to 'remember' your login. I tested this by logging in, going to the forum home page, then removed the www from the URL and went to the forum page again, only the page told me I was no longer logged in - as soon as I put the www back in the front of the URL, the "Welcome Tempest" blurb showed back up again. There are some other things you can check if you are experiencing this problem. Check your internet settings to be sure that your browser is set to accept cookies. You will not be able to log in and remain logged in if your browser does not accept cookies. Also check any firewall or internet security settings to be certain that these applications are not interfering with your computer's ability to remain logged in to the forums. And clear your internet cache, cookies and history every week or two (depending on the amount of online traffic your computer handles), as this may prevent problems. This was copied and pasted from the welcome screen to the discussion forum, Have you tried these techniques?

yes, I read that and it doesn't help at all. I just think it is a problem that is unique to this forum. Thanks for posting that, Linda.

ML, Listen to naivegirl because she is right. Mozilla's Firefox v1.0 not only avoids having you to login after every post but it way faster than IE. And best of all, IT'S FREE. Here's the download link Mozilla Firefox. Enjoy. TMCM

I have a little to do with an e-commerce business, and it could be something beyond their (MB's) control.
Depends a lot on the ISP, and the software the ISP runs.
Unless they are really big, and are their own ISP, they have to take what they get, and usually the ISP will only change something if they KNOW EXACTLY what the problem is. Most of the time, they don't know.
There are lots of other factors involved. When doing purchase testing for e-commerece, we can't always figure out why some computers will be able to get through the shopping basket, and others that APPEAR to be configured exactly the same can't. Most often a re-boot of the buyers computer fixes all, and I have no idea why. Sometimes it doesn't make much sense.
Anyway, since switching to firefox, I have had zero problems loosing my log in. Not sure if it's the way it works with cookies, or if it just is more true to web standards, but it works for me. That may be easier than getting MB's ISP to figure out what is going on.
BTW, just because you are having problems, is no reason for you to post fewer times in a day, I epxect you to maintain your regular volume.

ML,
When you have a monopoly like Microsoft, it is easy for it to stop improving their products because there is no competition. Remember the old Wendy's commercial with the Soviet fashion show? The 'model' , an overweight woman with a babushka and drabby looking dress, wore the same outfit on the runway everytime she came out with only one accessory added [beachwear -she carried a ball; nightwear - she carried a flashlight] and the crowd of old coots clapping like zombies everytime she came out? Well that is what has happened with MS and all of us [although I doubt we look anything like those old codgers applauding ]

I think he just said that I am a blabbermouth!!
I'll have you know I am a gentleman, and I would NEVER say anything like that about you.
I meant that people need help, even if you have login problems.
And, hmmm, it probably doesn't hurt the yankee server to have Texas words typed on it anyway. Might just help it run better.

TMCMan - that's the truth, once they take over the market in some area inovation stops.
BTW, TMCMan, you sure do a good job, I am glad to hear (In bits and snatches) that your life is doing a lot better.
I keep wanting to start a thread asking you to report, but I wonder if you want the attention.
Appriciate your wisdom, I have learned a lot from you.
I would say the same about ML, but I think she aleady knows I think highly of her (don't you Mel?)

SS,
Thank you for the kind words. It's always good to hear that my rants have actually helped another fellow human being.
As far as my life is concerned, I couldn't be happier. I've got a loving W and my relationship with my daughters is great as well. My XWW has now become a healthier woman and by what my oldest D has said, she has become a very loving mother to her and her sister. I am truly a blessed and happy man.
Sorry for the threadjack ML.

I just wanted to concure. I've been using Mozilla Firefox in pre-release for a couple of months now and recently downloaded the 1.0 version.
Since using Mozilla Firefox I have never had to re-login on MB....it holds it. It had gotten so annoying with IE...always losing the login.
There are a couple of sites that I've found don't work with Mozilla Firefox so I use IE for those.

Boy, I'm glad I mentioned it. I really didn't know that it was more effective holding the login. I just knew that mine was still there.
Glad to help! Seems us little 'ole southern girls can be a lot of help sometimes.
Nothin' 'gainst you Yankees now y'all, but it reminds me of the old saying:
"American by birth -- Southern by the grace of God."
