If you were to seek independant counselling, should you see a different counsellor than the marriage counsellor you are going to with your spouse?

Personally, I wouldn't. I went to our MC for the first 5 weeks by myself. Now H and I are going to go together. If she suggests some IC for him, I think that would be great.
I only say that going to one in the same makes it easier because they see the whole picture. You and her on an individual basis and then together. They can see the areas that both of you need to work on individually that may be affecting the marriage. Which is usually the case.
I would suggest, (and we do the same), the MC to also be the IC if both of you like them.
