If I’m aware of an inappropriate friendship (possible EA) at my workplace between two married colleagues and I’m aware that the H keeps certain small things secret from his W, what is my obligation and do I have any right as an outsider to expose to the H’s W who is working at the same company?

The W of the H is one of my past colleagues. Now and then I have some small talk with her, but we are not friends. She is more like an acquaintance to me and that’s all. The same with her H - he is also a past colleague and acquaintance, but the OW he is friends with, is my colleague and my senior in certain areas of my work. From past experience, I know this woman will not hesitate to ‘bad mouth’ me and make life difficult for me at my job if I interfere. Luckily I don’t work in the same office than her but I have to report to her regarding certain areas of my work.

My gut tells me I must stay out of this and not interfere, but as you all know I have first hand experience from the damage caused by inappropriate opposite sex friendships and what it can possibly lead to… And I just feel bad for the W. Since she works at the same company and working in the office next to her H, she certainly knows about this friendship, but I don’t think she have a clue of what’s really going on and how much time these 2 people really spend time together at work. And maybe all three of them don’t realize the possible dangers of this friendship…I don’t know.

Maybe I’m just paranoid because of my own past experience, but my gut tells me there is more going on than just “friendship” between them. I mean, his W is working next to his office, but he is spending ALL his tea breaks, lunch breaks etc. with this OW. Or is it possible that some woman don’t mind if their H’s spend so much time with an opposite sex friend? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />

Suzet,

Right now you have a strong hunch but not with enough proof to make your case stand. Those WS or potential Ws' and OPs c/b quite sneaky. They can make what you think is proof into something foolish in a minute. So be careful.

Maybe just a couple casual statements to a few others who are closer to the WSW. If you notice it, others probably do also.

Since your job c/b in jeporady, tread carefully. You can skillfully guide exposure to let it be done by another source.

L.
