About 8 months ago, my husband had an affair. He was honest and told me the next day but i always question if he's leaving anything out. He says he was drinking too much, a woman showed interest in him. To make a long story short, he says they kissed. I don't know whether or not to believe that that's all that happened. How do i know the truth?

Hi mthorne,

Welcome to MB!

I think that instead of focusing on whether there was more than a kiss, you should focus on the bigger picture:

- Why was your H in this environment?
- How does he intend to protect your M from something like this in the future?
- Is the OW someone he knows and has he agreed to NC with her?
- What can you be doing to make the M stronger?

In the end, it doesn't really matter whether they held hands, or kissed, or did the nasty in the parking lot. What matters is how this event affects your M and how you plan to move forward.

Good point. Thank you turtlehead. The OW was someone he met at a party that night. we have discussed exactly what happened and why and i understand completely...well maybe not completely but to the best of my ability regarding this. he has never seen her again. and is very considerate with everything he has done since. our relationship is better now than it was before. but i still can't shake thinking something else happened. although he is always willing to talk about it when i ask and always reassures me that he is telling the complete truth, i would really like to stop doubting my husband. part of me believes him...part of me is afraid i'll wonder forever.
