Myrta - I think most people think that he deserves it. But the appeals will go on and on, and he will probably outlive us.

I just read the news, I am very pleased with the verdict. I'm glad the jury showed him the same mercy he showed his wife and unborn child..NONE!

This is one of those sad tragic infidelty stories. Becareful people. Sometimes you never really know someone.

WHat he did was beyond horrifying, however I thought we were past the barbaric lifestyle. I do not believe in an eye for an eye, I beleve in makeing a person rot in prison, but earning his keep. Making them work for their room and board, jobs no one else wants. In some instances I believe in the Dealth penalty- I am not sure why, I do not in this one.

Nothing about this case gives me pleasure. My plea (and in Lacy's honor) is that if WS's decide they would like to have an affair, then do the honorable thing, and get a divorce first.

I do not believe in the death penalty personally.There are those that get executed and should not have been as an innocent person and any time that risk exists,the justification for this kind of judgment should be very carefully re-examined.God is the only one,I believe ,that has any right to claim a life unless in self defense and those of children in severe danger.

I also agree that rotting in a prison solitary confinement is a much better way of making a person think each day about their choices.

Believer...I agree with you. I also think that if a spouse decides they aren't happy they should be a man/woman and stand up and let the ohter spouse know they want out instead of betraying them and causing lifelong pain to an innocent person. I despise cheaters!!!!!!!! Now, my WH is one of those people I hate so much! Scott Peterson will get what he deserves!!!

I agree with you. I mean if you look at Lacy - seems like she was a good wife. She could have done just fine without her husband. Scott could have "moved on". He took it to the extreme in killing her and Conner. I am sad for that.

There are many here whose spouse has decided to go on without them. But why can't these folks have the integrity to admit it and get a divorce?

I saw the interview with the three jury members. When asked why they thought this crime was heinous enough to deserve the death penalty, they said, "Because Scott Peterson was the husband and the father. He was the one person who was supposed to protect them."

The one female juror kept saying about Connor, "His daddy did this to him. His daddy did this to him."

They were all clearly quite disgusted with his endless lying and by his willful destruction of his own family, considering them to be a burden and literally treating them like garbage.

Even if he is never actually executed -- and odds are, he won't be -- he will live out his days on Death Row at San Quentin, overlooking the bay where he dumped his unwanted wife and baby.

He's one guy who didn't get away with it.

Mulan - I think we can all relate to that. The one person who was supposed to protect them didn't. Not only he didn't, but actively harmed them.

And for those worrying about the death penalty. Hey guys - this is California, not Texas. In the thirty years the death penalty has been reinstated, only a tiny percentage (4%?) have been put to death. Scott will be just fine.

I'm praying for both families. Whether Scott deserves the death penalty or not, it's not going to bring Lacy back. It's so sad...

I agree, this is all such a horrible thing. No one wins here, least of all Lacy and Connor. What a sad thing, all for an affair that probably would have ended in 6 months anyway. No one deserves to die. I think Scott did a horrible thing, but I think they should put him in a jail cell wallpapered with his wife and baby's face (or Lacy's very pregnant tummy) and make him spend the rest of his life looking at her as a constant reminder of what he did and why he was there.

I would like to pose the theory that how do we not know that God wasn't in the deliberation room? How do we not know that his will was not done? Making Scott suffer/rot in jail with Lacy and her son's pictures on the wall. That is a good idea, but it in no way compares to what Scott will face when he does leave this earth. That to me is scary! If I were him (that doesn't sound good) I would want to live as long as possible to put off the enevitable.

The guy will be 50 something and probably die from coronary artery disease or something else before they gas his A$$. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />


For the record, I am not for the death penalty. It is the "easy" way out from here. Let him rot in jail and live with his sins and then send him to his maker for true retribution. Just my warped .02

Yeah I heard the same story about the backlog of D/R inmates. Who is to say that he won't get "shanked" in the yard though? Of course there is a flip side to this coin also, he could find God in prison (I know it's cliche) We don't know what's going to happen. I haven't really put any thought into whether I believe in the death penalty or not.

There has been a few instances where I feel that even death isn't good enough for some criminals ... Now Mr Peterson .... he doesn't deserve to live ... Nope. Being pratical as a taxpayer why should any of us pay to have this "person" off the street ... if the [censored] dies it's cheaper (and safer) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

I'm sorry if that seems so harsh, but what chance did his pregnant wife or unborn son have against him ... there is no appeal for them. So just get it over with.
