I am so upset right now. I was supposed to go to a Christmas dinner with a group of friends that I've made here. This group of friends is all mine. I made them on my own. I got up my courage and went out and met people (i am not very outgoing). I thought the dinner was tonight...
I just checked my email to get the address, and it was last night.
I have become very forgetful and not careful about organizing things I have to do. I also have become a little bit spacey in general. I hope this will pass with time.
What about you? Any weird or troublesome habits you've developed?

Maddy,
Are you on A/D's. I recently weened off of Lexapro and one of the reasons was that although it did help me through a very bad time I was having with panic attacks I found myself not caring about much.
Forgetting to pay bills, running up bills not caring about the house. Even my renters would call with something and I would just blow them off. I was way to laid back.
If you are not on A/D's then I would probably say it is the fallout from the trauma you have been going through. The mind sometimes goes into very low gear to protect I think.
Not caring is better than incredible grief or anger sometimes to the mind in an effort to protect you.
I don't know just some thoughts, could be way off.

PTSD. You can get it from emotional trauma as well as from physical trauma. I have every symptom except "survivor guilt." Well, okay, maybe I have that one too -- I do feel guilty because some people still survive.

No, not on AD's. I discussed it with my therapist and discussed my reluctance, but acknowledged that there might be a need. We decided to hold off and that was several months ago.
I am actually over the worst of the pain though of course I still have triggers. Um..Christmas being one of them. We had a big hoopla about spending the holidays together and it was pretty stressful.
I feel comfortable not taking the AD's right now as I said...I feel pretty good. Doing the things I need to do like for the house and bills and my little doggie and my son. Even applied for school But I guess I still have this side effect as I'm definitely forgetful. I have to post large prominent notes for the super important stuff.

Hi maddy,
I was going to say the same thing as mulan.PTSD can instill a whole host of symptoms and I believe that Infidelity ranks right up there with many serious events.
For me,the biggest examples were being on edge and being a "scatterbrain".I am normally a highly organized person and it's taken me just about a whole year now to get that capacity back.I went through stacks and stacks of post-it's to keep me from completely falling out of touch with reality and responsibilities. If I wasn't consumed with the adultery then I felt like I was out to lunch.I just could not function well and AD's did help me.I took myself off them a couple of months ago and am doing better.
I am still a bit jumpy but not as much.I also still experience head aches and I still don't feel like myself. It's probably because I am now going through a D as well as the adultery, two major blows for me this past year+.

I've become forgetful and also not able to focus on things very well. It is a trauma so I'm sure it time things will get better.
Maddyk...I'm so sorry you missed the dinner. That's a bummer. I have lots of friends also that I made on my own since D-day. Now, I'm surrounded by supportive people! It almost makes you wonder.....would you have those people in your life if this woulnd't have happened to you? I guess everything happens for a reason.

I guess that I figured once I was over the worst of the pain, everything else would start to get better. I guess it takes times and things like the holidays don't help.
I would just like to feel normal again. I don't want to go back to the girl I was even pre-affair, but I don't feel like myself.

I had a lot of problem with forgetfulness and just being generally scatterbrained. It's starting to get better now, though.
That much stress and trauma is bound to take its toll.
