OK, folks. For the last time and I'll shut up:

"Fog" doesn't start an affair - a decision does. Fog helps keep it going.

"FOG" is rationalization of irrational behavior.

The one word term "FOG" is a way of describing the WS's unbelievable bad and bizarre behaviors during an affair.

FOG is a deceptive tool used to hide illicit acts. It drapes and shields the lies from the light of truth.

JMHO, of course. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Was there an issue to what Fog really means? I think it's quite clear really - just as WAT stated above...

"Fog" describes the emotional state and actions arising from a hormonally regulated biological drive or drives. These drives are variously known as love, lust, romantic love, and attachment.

The manifestations of these biological drives include emotions and reactions such as joy, strong feelings of affection, desperate cravings to see and be with the object of the biological drive, sexual arousal, hate, anger, fear, resentment, pain, guilt, trauma, joy, and terror.

All of the members of an affair triangle can be in a "fog" at various points during the affair.

This 2uote's from dictionary.com:

"Something that obscures or conceals; "a haze shrouded their actions in a fog of disinformation."

A state of mental vagueness or bewilderment."

Fog is what obscures a BS' ability 2 recognize their own potential 2 positively impact fu2re events because they're trying 2 find meaning in FOG.

I see it as the mind in drunken stupor. .

Another way of looking at it is delusional, temporary insanity.

All of these definitions are great, and true, and powerful. I think the fog is so dangerous, not just to the people in the fogged-out person's life, but to the the fogged-out person, because my belief is that while in the fog, the person is unaware that they are behaving strangely.

I use the analogy of when I was a teen, and my mother was getting very ill with Multiple Sclerosis, and her and her 4th H were getting D'd (he actually adopted me, I loved him), and my life was in chaos. And I slept a LOT. I just wanted to sleep. My friends were frustrated with me, and couldn't understand me, and the whole world seemed so strange. But I seemed the same.

Then my mom's 5th H sent me to a counselor after a couple years. Guess what??? I was manic depressive! And I didn't recognize it until I was NOT depressed anymore. Once I wasn't depressed, I could see my behavior and thoughts as very strange, and realized that my friends were frustrated and afraid of my behavior.

I think that is like the fog. Until you can get out, you don't know you're in. That is the most dangerous part to me.
