Ok...I need some input. My WH is living with his parents and so when my son stays the night with his dad it's over with his grandparents..... Problem is....My MIL is crazy as a loon and will say stuff about me to my son. She did this to my neices. They now hate her! My son isn't that crazy about her to begin with. My in-laws own the private school my son attends so today my WH couldn't pick our son up from school so my MIL took him home with her. My question is this.... Can I set it up where only me or my WH can pick him up from school. If my WH can't get our son and it's his night to stay with him...can I pick him up and then make my WH come get our son from our home? This probably sounds confusing. I don't know how else to word it. My point is that I don't want my son around my MIL all the time. She is an evil woman..NOT JOKING! I plan on talking to my lawyer about this but just wondered if anyone had any suggestions...

Small 2X4 coming. You can prevent anyone other than your spouse from picking up your child. However, if custody had not been legally established...WH can sign off on letting MIL pick your son up.
I understand your frustration, it all comes with the territory.

TR,
If your in-laws own the school, then you may be at a disadvantage. Imagine what the office would say or think to know that the owner's grandson can't even be picked up by the grandparent because of what is sure t/b explained to them as a lunatic BS. I know that's not true but you know how people can disotort stuff to their advantage.
Unless you remove your son from that school or accept the consquences as is, they will continue to pain you in a bad light.
It is sad that your son has to suffer this much but it is similar to having your child spend time with a WS instead of his real dad.

Thanks! I just feel so caught in a rock and a hard place. I know I can't just say that the "owners" can't take their grandson and I don't want to take my son out of the school in the middle of the year. I just don't know what to do. I have no family here to help me and I feel sooooooooooo alone. I guess I'm just really having a hard time tonight. I hate these nights!!!!!!!!!!

TR,
I hate it when people bad mouth a childs parent.
I'm sorry. No advice, just make sure that you speak to him about him and let him know that while he must respect his grandma she sometimes says means things which aren't true about you because she doesn't know any better. Tell him that unfortunately this is just the way it is sometimes when parents get divorced, and for him not to be bothered by it, just try to ignore it.
I would seriously get him into a child IM. I took my daughter when she was having a time of it, and she really liked having a special friend all of her own to talk to, with no worries of saying something "bad".
Hang in there Tree!

Thanks weaver! I do plan on getting my son into counseling after the holidays. I have talked to him a little about how my WH's family will act and things they may say. It's just so hard!
My son just came by to get his stuff to stay overnight with his dad. It sure made me feel better to give him a big hug and kiss. He's my little angel. I just love him so much!

TR, your child is YOUR child and the grandparents have no rights....period.
So, YES, you can JUST say that the "owners" can't take their grandson. It seems to me that your focus should be on your SON, and not anyone else. If not YOU, then who? What on earth do you care what anyone thinks about you or your situation? You DO what is right, in your opinion and no one else's, to protect your son.
You already said what a mess your MIL made with the nieces, are you really going to sit back, because you are "afraid," and let her "have at your son?"
Your son is your gift from God, and with it comes the responsibility to protect him to the best of your ability, not to worry about what others might think.
Your husband has created this mess, so you can't count on him. Your MIL is an "evil woman," so you can't allow her to have any influence that you can prevent or control.
No doubt this is hard. But now is the time for you to rise up as a protective "she cat" if it is needed. NOBODY messes with your child!
God bless and give you His strength and wisdom.

TreeReich,
This is a tough one. In a public school, you'd have every right to say who can or can't take a child from class. I'd look to see if your son's school has a written poilcy on this. I bet it does. And...I'd stand on that policy and INSIST that only your or H pick him up.
I understand you not wanting to move him out of school at this point in the year. But really, waht is going to be more stressful - having to switch schools or living in the middle of a situation like this?
How are the public schools in your area? Are they an option?

Forever Hers... You are right I have to protect my son. The only reason I'm not pulling my son out of the school now is because he is going through so much and I just don't think it's a good idea to yank him out of the surroundings that he knows right now. The other reason I can't yank him out right now is because I don't know where I will be living and what school zone we will be in. He loves his teacher and has many friends. It's just so hard for me. I'm so confused on this one.
His Mom is an evil woman and I am planning on talking to the principal today about her not taking him home with her. I did not put her on the pick up list for school so she has no right to take him out. I will fight this one!!! I'm sure there will be hell to pay but I don't care~~~~~
I just got back from my lawyer. She is counter serving my WH next week. Oh goodness....things are going to get messy!
