Ok, tonight my son has his Christmas program and my WH will be there of course. I will be surrounded by his family. I'm really going to need strength tonight.
I plan on looking great and wearing a smile. I guess I'm just a little nervous. This will be the first time I'll be in the same room with all of the in-laws.

TR,

Just smile and be proud of your DS. You owe nothing to those people.

TR,

You are a confident woman who can hold her head up high because you don't have the mark of the A on your forhead! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Go and enjoy your son's performance. This is his night, not anyone else's.

Remind yourself all during that time.

The anticipation is greater than the event.

All the best,
L.

TR,

I know your son will do great! Just bask in the pride that you no doubt feel! It's a stronger feeling than anything else that will be present in that room.

Tree,

Gosh, I can imagine the discomfort there. My STBX actually suggested I take the kids over to her Aunts for Christmas Eve. So I could sit there surrounded by people who enabled, encouraged, and supported my STBX's affair. I will never be able to share a table or anything else with them, they are not friends of my family, they are not supporters of my children.

As for a Christmas event. Take a friend with you. Enjoy your son's night. It means a lot to him knowing you are there, especially in light of your MIL involvement in the A. I deal with it at my DD cheer events. I just stay away from STBX and try to be there for my DD.

Good luck Tree. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> purrr

TreeReich,
Not sure I've ever posted to your threads.

Wanted ro give you a few words of support. First of all there are many attractive people here at MB who have been cheated on but IMHO you are just about the cutest.

There should be absolutely no self esteem issues with you. Remember it's all about "them" and their problems.

So be strong. Hold your head up and be proud of yourself. Your self-worth shouldn't be totally wrapped up in his opinions.

Tree - I had the privilege of attending my WH's retirement party last April. He was living with OW. Everyone at work knew that he had another woman. All his enabling family were there.

I went, held my head up high, and enjoyed it. I cannot tell you how many people let me know afterward how much they admired my graciousness. I almost didn't go at the last minute, but am glad I did.

Go and enjoy yourself.

Thanks for the support!
Well, when I got there one of my friends (who is also a teacher there) came steaming mad out of her car. I asked he what was wrong and that just opened up a whole can of worms. She hates my SIL so they had it out. Well, my SIL came up to me trying to accuse me of something and I snapped back at her. Of course then I was just pissed!!! I turned around and there was my WH standing in the doorway of the gym. I was standing right in front of him for the whole program. I just smiled and enjoyed watching my son. When the program was over I turned around and he was gone. He didn't even stay to talk to our son. I was furious! I felt so bad for my son...he asked why his dad wasn't there. I told him to ask him that when he called. He did and my WH lied to him. My son knew it. I just hugged him and told him that I love him very much and we'll be ok. How can he do that to his son????? JERK!!!!!!!

cwmac.....thanks for the compliment. Made me feel good! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

TJ...where have you been? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

LOL! I guess I shouldn't be surprised at all huh? I guess I'm just not that kind of person and it just floors me that people can be so cruel. I'll be so used to this behavior after a while...nothing will phase me.
Going to bed. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.
