My STBXW and I have had a mutual friend for most of our married life together. My W and this woman had there first boys on the same day and we met at the hospital. Our two boys have been good friends there whole lives.
My W and her were good friends for a long time also. When my W went off the deep end she tried to stay friends with her and talk some sense into her. Finally her own guilt caused her to break the friendship off with my W. I turned to this woman for information about what my W had been doing and she told me some things that my W later admitted to.
My W has not forgiven her and is adament that my son have no more contact with her boy anymore. Even though I totally disagree with her reasoning I don't think it's a good idea to go against her wishes, but I'm not sure. I also have no clue what to tell my son when he asks why he can't spend time with this boy anymore. There is simply no way I can think of to make my W not look like a total jerk without simply lying to my son. She wants to act like this boy is a bad influence, but that is not true and we all know it.
I'm thinking that I will grant her wish and keep them apart but I should not try to hide the reasons why. If she wants this so much then she will just have to be willing to take the heat for it. What do you think?

Starman,
You did say STBXW, correct, as in Soon To Be X?
If so, then why is it bad to go against her wishes? Is she holding something over your head?? Blackmail or something?
This is wrong of her.
Do you have any custody? If so, you let him play with his best friend when he is with you.
IMHO k

You're son should not be made to suffer from this. Leave him out of it and let him have time with his friend when YOU can.
You're STBX can do as she see's fit when she has you're son.

We are in the process of getting a D. I have custody of my kids (5) right now. I know it's important to try and respect the other's wishes when possible, especially with issues regarding the kids. I would not want her to do something that I did not agree with, and am trying not to go there with her.
This is so obviously wrong of her and it REALLY upsets me to be put in such a position. I know that my son should not have to suffer for this though. I believe in this case I will just have to go against her wishes and hopefully she will come to her senses in time.
