I swear, every flipping channel in the Los Angeles area is on "Storm Watch" or "Storm Track". You would think that us here in So. Cal. can't survive such things as rain, wind, temperatures in the 50's. It's absolutely hilarious.

So who here is on "Storm Watch"? 2long? Pep?? I have my emergency kit, the dogs and cat have their slickers on, and we have a plan just in case we get "tornado like winds."

Oh I know Chackler.

The same thing up north. Everytime there is a snow storm coming, it's like we never saw snow before. Good grief we get snow almost everyday up here. But when they have the snow storm warnings I always feel compelled to go stock up...just in case. In case of what I don't know, because I have to shovel to get out the dang door everyday anyway. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Oh and then one time we had this major storm warning and I was going to be traveling so I called the police post because of all the warnings I wanted to make sure the roads were all open. I said "hi, can you tell me how the roads are up so and so way?" And the cop replied "well, lets see it is December in _________, so I guess they are covered in snow!" Did I feel like a dink or what. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Same thing happens here believe it or not.

In the south during the winter, snow and sleet and ice are the norm but EVERY year the news says "Snow hit the south today and the farmers are all concerned."

Then in the summer, "drought still threatens the south and the farmers are all concerned."

It happens every freaking year - you'd think they'd know it was going to happen. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Where I lived in California, if the temperature wasn't between 55 degrees to 75 degrees, people complained bitterly. The weather was so perfect most of the time, that everyone couldn't deal with it outside of some narrow norms. On the other hand, I was subject to more natural disasters in California than anyplace else I've lived, torrential rain, high winds, big waves, landslides, earthquakes and nasty traffic.

Odd place, isn't it?

Well, we are NOT on storm watch and the kids and I wish we were! Instead we have this darn frozen fog with no chance of a snow day tomorrow, so it is back to work <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> I'd much rather have snow.

Oh JMH, at least you have snow days. We aren't so fortunate here. I can't call out sick because of rain, though at times I wish I could. I hate driving on the freeways when it all rainy, too many people don't know how to drive in the weather.

Jen, I thought all these silly "watches" were limited to us Americans! So you go through the same stuff hu?

Here in Whittier there was a tornado with last weeks storm, about 3 miles or so away from my house and I think it was rated an F0 on the tornado scale thingy. Too bad it wasn't closer to my house. I would love to see a tornado one day - I need to go on one of those storm chases out in the mid-west! Now they deserve their storm watches!! LOL!
