One of the most profound statements I have ever read by Dr. Harley was something I came across years ago in an interview he gave.

He said: "There is no excuse for an affair, but there are reasons."

I know it is normal to want to point fingers of blame and such...to explain and justify, etc.

But I am offering up a book title here that is having a profound effect on me for a host of reasons. And I thought it might be beneficial to those whose hearts are hurting, and searching for some substantial insight.

The book is titled "The Bait of Satan" by John Bevere. It has to do with 'offences' and how we respond to them.

For what it's worth, I would highly recomend the material.

Blessings to all

That sounds really interesting....I had read not too long ago that when people "offend", it is really Satan behind the actions, and you are not to look at the person as having offened, but as Satan trying to "get to you".....is this where the book's focus is?

Well there is the understanding that Yes, Satan is behind the offences, but the primary focus is on is on how subtle they are, how oblivious we can be to them, and how they litteraly 'ensare' us depending on how we recognize and respond to them. It truly is some of the most insightful teaching I haver EVER heard on the subject.

I know on the surface, this has the markings of a shallow scapegoat in wanting to 'blame the devil' for anything and everything.

But in all fairness, this book is not about doing that at all. It truly isn't. I know there are many 'believers' on this board and I think this would offer some interesting insight that really does bring things back home to personal responsibility in many ways.

I can certainly understand your concerns at where this might have been going, but I assure you, it is not about that at all.

Blessings to you

In my opinion it doesn't matter if it's the devil, your lower self, your karma or your dog that "leads you to temptation" - it is still you who has to give into temptation.
We have a choice - to say "yes" or "no".

Inventing excuses for having an A is postponing taking full responsability for one's actions. And only if the WS takes this responsability then he/she can heal and educate him/herself so that he/she can understand why he/she was vulnerable to have an A, and to make sure it never happens again.

But I think the BS also has a choice to say "yes" or "no" to the temptation of feeling hate and wanting revenge. And that the BS should heal and educate him/herself to overcome this temptation.
