My son told me last night that his dad told him that he met someone else. He also told him that he was sorry that he left and that he knows what he did was wrong. He told him that we are getting "dissolution of marriage."
Ok......I really don't appreciate him telling our son about this without consulting me first. I alos don't know why he just didn't say the word DIVORCE.....my son doesn't understand dissolution of marriage!!!! I talked to my son for a while about all of this and he said he was mad and sad about his dad. He feels like his dad left HIM.
I'm just so ticked at my WH!!!!! How should I handle this????

Tree, I'm so sorry about this. I would let your son know that you both love him and it was nothing he did. Young children often think it is their fault that mom and dad are getting a divorce (or dissolution of marraige). I would let him know there will be changes, but that you both love him and that will never change.

Ask son if he'd like to write his Daddy a letter.... and you don't even read it.... you just get him the paper and pen and an envelope to put it in when son is done writing.
He's 8 ... he should be able to express himself ... and he should feel free TO express himself without censure and without interference from you.
AND ... if WH does not "like" what is in the letter, you can honestly say you did not read it and have no idea what the contents are.

Maybe it's time to not communicate with your WH about anything other than your son. Just read his latest email on the other thread and it's just all getting too baffling.

PS .... You call the school and let them know what is going on so they can keep a close eye on son.

Y'know Trish i SUSPECTED that her might do this. Remember I wondered on your other thread what he is telling your Son ?
His behaviour indicates that he is placing himself above the well being of his son.
He is a very unpleasant person, this WH personality.
The gloves are off Tree.....

Thanks everybody!!!
Pep, I will ask my son if he wants to write a letter to his dad. I did this early on and my WH went nuts. He was mad that I let our son write a letter to him. He just didn't like what it said. Oh well.....sorry...you have to face what you did. I have told my son's teacher and the principal about everything going on. They are very supportive. Actually, everyone there knows because my in-laws own the school. I'm close to most all of the teachers there so I have lots of support.
Bob, You are so right.....the gloves are off!!!!!!!
