Holy cow! Heard a huge crash outside this morning, looked out and saw that my neighbor's truck had been hit.
Didn't look too bad though.
I went outside and noticed everyone looking kinda weird at me, walked around the car and saw he took out the whole passenger side.
I can't believe this!!
To top it off...the insurance lapsed last month. It was pay insurance or the car payment.
I apparently made the wrong choice.
The driver abandoned the car half way down the street and it looks like the car was stolen and he had been prowling cars.
Let's hope the day gets better from here.

FIM,
I'm sorry to hear about this. It sucks.
How much longer do you have to pay on your car? Where are you and H in terms of working out finances?

What a drag
It is possible your homeowner's insurance will cover it. You might want to check that out.

The car isn't drivable right now but I'm going to see about getting a new tire on the one wheel that popped and see if the axle isn't as screwed up as I think it might be.
I need to replace two windows too.
I am going to call my homeowners insurance company, but the officer who came out said that they usually cover contents inside a vehicle if it is robbed, but he is doubtful about a hit and run situation.
Financially, this couldn't come at a worse time. I'm still working part time until I can find a full-time job that pays well enough to justify day care costs and WH is still not working.
Somehow, someway this will work out though. I just keep counting on the fact that in two years, this morning will be a memory.

FIM,
I am sorry things are so tough right now. Are you able to keep up with your house payments?

Thank you, Andrew.
I am behind on the house payments right now but my MIL, bless her, is still willing to help out. I've been very reluctant to allow her to help the last few months, mostly because I think her help allows WH to think things will be okay no matter what he does.
BUT, we talked the other day and she is going to cover the house payment again to make sure we get back on track with that.
I don't even want to think of what I'm going to owe her, in terms of money, when this is over. I know she doesn't expect it, but I don't think her husband worked so hard to see her taken care of after his death just to have his son run things into the ground.

FIM,
I knwo a little bit about mortgages. You may want to contact your lender and tell them that you are struggling to make your payments. Most likely, they will be willing to work with you.
They may even be willingto re-do your loan to lower your monthly payments.
It seems to me, by the way, that even if your H is convinced that he is right in being with the OW..he owes it to his family to make sure that everyone has a decent place to live AND that there is enough money for htings like insurance.

FIM,
Amazing how the more crap that is thrown your way.....the knack you have for turning crap into fertilizer!!!
Sorry about your car. Glad no one was hurt. Did they catch that person yet? ARrrgggh..... I hate people who think it is their right to take what is not theirs. Arrrggh.... Then go on a wild ride?????
My BIL had a hit and run experience with his son's perfect 69 camaro. His 17 year old takes excellent care of his classic...... his dad (BIL) is in the custom wheel business and demands perfection. Anyway they sent their car down south (LA area) to get some modifications done. The shop's worker took it to a swap meet then had a friend drive it back. The friend was drunk and spun out the car, hitting a tree and smashing the entire rear end. All 3 passengers got out and fled - thus making it a hit and run felony. One of them came back to attempt to drive the car back to the shop. The owner waited 3 weeks to tell BIL that the car was wrecked but blamed it on one of the machines in his shop. The police reported the hit and run and BIL had to go down and deal with both the police and this shop who he finds out doesn't have liablity insurance -
Such is life..... BIL is furious to say the least but his W is helping him keep his blood pressure in check.
Anyway, you seem to be getting good support advice here. Just wanted to lend you some Ohana support from waaay out in the pacific.
Aloha, L.
