Remember that thread of mine when I was upset about my MIL accusing me of sleeping with her boyfriend? Well, my H finally tracked her down and you know what? She admitted it was a LIE! She took no responsibility for her actions of course, H asked her why she would do such a thing and she only cried harder. So I dont know why she did it. I cried for days over that!I think its time for a straightjacket.

I'm not TR ... but maybe MIL's got early mild dementia???? Has she had TIAs? (small strokes) Sometimes there is a medical explaination for strange behavior that is out of character for that person. Is that possible?

Mild? I think she's been off her rocker for awhile. I posted in that other thread that she's been thru infidelity herself where her now XH of many years knocked up some other woman. MIL locked herself in the attic for 2 days , noone could find her and when she was finally found she had to be hospitalized. She refused all attempts at reconciliation from her H, and even now still cries over him and has had it very rough.
