Dani, after reading your Saturday night post, I thought about something I do to cope. For years, when I've felt sad at night, there's a song I've sung. That probably should have been a clue my marriage needed working on but when you have small kids, it's hard to think too far ahead.

This is a lullaby for adults. Something you'd sing to your kids to comfort them but the words speak to you. I like the imagery that we parents need back lot of what we are give out. That sometimes, we'd like to escape and be a child again. The refrain:

Tonight, I'd like you to rock me to sleep.
I'd like you to sing me a song.
I'm tired of trying to make everything right.
I'm tired of being so strong.

This song is from a tape by a woman named Bev Boz. She is a wonderful early childhood educator from California. She is an advocate for children and families. She asks us to value childhood and play and ourselves. If you ever get a chance to read one of her books like "Don't Move the Muffin Tin" or listen to her music or play with her toys or attend a seminar, you will be moved beyond all. She is such an inspirational person.

Grape,
First, THANK YOU for thinking of me!
Second, that is an amazing verse. I am going to look that lady up online and see what I come up with.

Danielle

You're welcome, Dani. We all have our dark nights and it's a dark night kind of song. I've hugged myself or my kids and rocked, cried and sang it many times. Sometimes, you just want to lay down your burdens and let somebody else do the work.

Do look up Bev. It might be Bos instead of Boz. I can't quite remember. She had a school in Roseville, CA. My kids' preschool in California use to have her give a talk every couple of years. She's done seminars around the world. Bev had a difficult childhood but she's developed this amazing philosophy for children. It seems like these days, everybody wants to push their children. She's says let them play, let them explore, let them discover. Since you have little kids, you will probably find her quite interesting. Bev really energizes you and think about the way you want your kids to be. My kids are GREAT and in part, it's thanks to her.

Take care!
