Today is Caren's Birthday
The day that she was born
We're here to make her happy
Not sad and all forlorn.

Today's the day she brought great joy
to her mom and dad.
That day so many years ago
Was not meant to be sad.

So Joy to you, dear Caren,
May others feel your love
And may you live this next year
with blessings from above.

The good, the pure, the beautiful:
Think on these things today
And remember in all things
God will light the way.

Happy birthday - do something nice for yourself today - and remember God's in control.

ps. my birthday is the 31st - I may need you to send this back to me!!!

Love, Starz

Thank you faith....thank you Starz...nice poem...I'll remember yours is on the 31st, and you will get it back.....it made me cry...but then the fact that I have to go to the store for more cigarettes is making me cry today.

Thank you everyone, can't afford to do anything nicer for myself than let my friend take me to dinner...nice thought though, I'm about a broke joke.

And I have 3 zits damn it....what the hell, what am I doing having zits when I'm 37 anyway?!?!

Guess what? There are a million things you have not done that don't cost any money.

Take a drive through the woods, or by a river.

If you can, and it's not too cold, take a walk somewhere where you can feel the breeze on your face.

If you live near the ocean, go there and watch the waves, and feel the power of nature.

Go to a public park and watch children play.

Go to the public library, get a card if you don't have one, and check out a book you've never read but think you would like to. Our public library also has movies you can check out for free. Don't choose a romantic one, look for a comedy.

If there is a mall, go there, window shop.
Start making a list of things for next Christmas.

Maybe just sit in the mall and imagine what other people do for a living just by the way they look.

Go to a dealership and look at new cars. They don't have to know you don't have any money.

Make a list of things you could buy with $1.00.
Choose one, and go buy it. Dollar stores are fun.

Go to the zoo. It's usually free, or very cheap, and lots of fun to watch the animals and the kids.

(I did this once - crazy, but...) I got on a city bus, paid the fee to ride (with my kids) and rode the entire circuit until we got back to the starting point. It was crazy, and fun, and cheap.

Make some cupcakes. Frost them, put them on a tray, and go around and give them to people in your neighborhood. You don't have to tell them it's your birthday. You will feel like you had a party by the pleased and surprised expressions on their faces.

Go to Google and search for something crazy- and just see what comes up!! That's cheap.

Above all, get out of the house and go see and think about something else. If you can, go somewhere you've never been before. Build a new memory.

Look for a free art exhibit in the newspaper. Or some other advertised activity that's free that you would have never dreamed of going to.
There's always something on a weekend, even if you have to drive to the next town to do it.

I used to sit down with the Sunday paper and go through it writing down the price of everything I would buy if I had all the money in the world. (House, furniture, cars, clothes, jewelry, tickets to shows, etc.) Then I would total it all up at the end and see how much I would have spent.

Go through your closet, find something you haven't worn in two years, and put it on. Then find jewelry or something that would make it look like a new item.

Good luck. The day is what you make it.

Thanks for the suggestions Starz...they are good ones....but when I say broke, that's what I mean, I'm lucky if I have 20 bucks...to last until next pay (2 weeks).

It's friggen freezing outside, but your suggestions are cool. I have trouble even going to the grocery store, I see couples there, buying groceries together, and it just makes me so sad.

But I appreciate the effort <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Caren -

Time to start cheering up and treating yourself well. When all is said and done, one of two things will happen - he will decide to work on the marriage, and you will be happy OR you will decide you are better off without him, and you will be happy.

After 2 years of this, my WH is still with OW, and I don't even think about him anymore. I haven't talked to him in a couple of months, and I don't care. It's such a nice feeling. You will get there too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Believer-
I don't even want to be to the point where I don't care.....I just want my life back....I can't accept any other outcome....I just can't.

Dear Caren, I haven't posted to you before but have followed some of your story recently. These As suck big time. We can't let them define who we are. I hope you get your wish and your M can recover. My bigger b-day wish for you is that whatever the outcome ends up being you will recover. So I am sending you a big b-day hug, and wishing for you recovery in this next year of your life! CV
