Whenever someone tells me they're engaged, or are getting married, I look at the ring, tell them how pretty it is, but my instinct is to grab them and say "OH MY GAWD DON'T DO IT, RUN....RUN NOW, RUN AS FAST AND AS FAR AS YOU CAN!!!!" LMAO I know I shouldn't be this way but hells bells, I don't want anyone else going through what I'm going through!!

Run Forrest Run!!!

Caren, just quote John Mellencamp, and say:

"No man should be given a marriage license until he's 40."

But more importantly,

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">hells bells</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">the last time I heard that was... OMG... you.. you're.... you're not my grandmother are you?!?!? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

If you say "fam damily" next, I'm outta here...

Yep, Caren, you are not alone in that.

Odd thing is, I think I have even more respect for the idea of marriage now than I used to, and that is going some.

I do have the eventual hope of remarrying. I think that in a good marriage is 'bout the best place for anyone to be.

There are no longer any promises from me to FU. I am not saying there never will be again, but I am really, really glad that I feel the freedom to do whatever I must if her future actions derail recovery.

I work in a hotel. We get a LOT of newlyweds. I can't help but feel the need to pray that they are ready to stand by their vows everytime I see a new couple nowadays.

I still believe in marriage. I believe a lot more in using one's head as well as one's heart than I used to, though.

I think that I will be better prepared in my future relationships (if this one ends in D) because of all I have learned both here at MB, and in IC. I will be happier with myself, and with my spouse, because of this horrid, torrid A.

I would encourage anyone who is considering M to come here and study "how to be married" first.

I work in a school as a teaching assistant. After 9 months of keeping things to myself, I told her what was going on in December and that my husband and I had separated. One week later she came in and sheepishly told me she'd got engaged. She's over the moon and I'm really pleased for her but one bit in the love story struck me - she paid for the ring on her credit card to get the mileage points. How's that for romance!!! TT

If I hear a woman is getting married -not to burst their bubble I tell thme how happy I am for them -then tell them to always have a plan -save money on the side the S does not know you have just in case -get seperate charge card and hide it. For an ememrgency. Scares them but what the heck -whish I had I'd be gone now for a long vaca...

Bizarre...A friend at work had an engagement lunchtime drink at the pub.

I bought her & HTB a copy of HN/HN.

Smiling stopped for a minute, she looked confused.

At least its in their house !

note to self - be less clumsy in this ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

LMAO @ buying them HN/HN, they actually should read it, I let my next door neighbor borrow my copy.....she's having trouble getting her husband to take it seriously...but they have serious problems.

He told me the other day that I need to move on, and find someone else, that I'm a pretty girl...blah blah, I said "Ummmmmm you and your wife have been having problems for a long time, she keeps leaving, and you keep taking her back......it's the same thing, you love her and would do anything to stay married to her, that's the way I feel.

tqt-

LOL I say hells bells all the time. I don't think I've ever uttered "fam damily" but I know I've heard someone say it.

Let's see what else my Mom says.....

She calls a robe a 'housecoat'
The couch is the davenport

My Grandma used to say "sugar" instead of sh*t
and Fudge....I can only assume to replace [censored]

Funny stuff.

The funny thing is the last couple of weddings I have been to they are all divorced now. I feel exactly like telling everyone I know to don't do it! Think twice! Then think again.
