Mods,
It has been brought to my attention on JustJ's thread that google and maybe other search engines can find out posts. This is not safe.
Please let us know what can be done.
Thanks, L.

This came up about 2 years ago on the Emotional Needs board (I think), and one poster's solution was to change her name frequently. Don't know if that worked. She posted under the same name on several boards (not related to MB), and all her posts from the various boards came up on Google. At least it kept someone from consistently finding her postings on MB.

It looks to me like you have to put in the marriagebuilders web site name as well as the name of the poster. You can do from google something similar to what you can do on the marriagebuilders web site. I'm not sure it matters.

ok sis since you asked ....
good spiders (program that mined your pages) would load robots.txt and suppose to honor the rules. Pages also could have meta-tag "no spider". However this is by honor basis.
Now, I don't know why people freak out about their posts. If you don't want to be identified then you should take your own percausion !!!. We have handle to masquerade our identity.
What are your concerned about search engines, sis ?. It is even easier to use serach info here than via google for your posts.

okay, here's my view on this. If you wanted your identity to be kept secret you should have chosen a screen name that noone you know would think to look you up under.
the forums are open to the public and i think that's good. that way others who need it can find it.
As for our Spouses finding our posts, I'm sure a lot of them already know about MB by us trying to introduce them to the principles. So they wouldn't need google to look up your postings.

Yea well, my user name is a common flower.....didn't think about that when I chose it. So can you imagine what people see when they look up Orchid on Google? YIKES!!!

Google allows a site specific search also. Go into google and put this in to the search block.
orchid site:www.marriagebuilders.com.
Just put in the search term, followed by site: and the web site to search on.

I have a Nikken website that does not show up on google. How come?
Now the question is how to stop this from showing up on the 1st few pages or at all.

O, I do appreciate your concern, but personally... I don't share it.
I think there's a decent chance my WS and OP know all about me here. And I do not care, even though I might have had my share of vents.
It's a good idea for everybody to remember that the web is the web, in all its wide-open glory. Maybe the forms used for member registration ought to include a few warnings...

Per Suzet's tip from her thread: Suzet's suggestion on how to reduce the search engine exposure It worked for me. I now have 2 user names but the 2nd registered one (requires a new e-mail address ).... but it worked. Now when someone searched just under the word Orchid......my MB stuff doesn't show on the 1st few pages. Thanks Suzet.... L.
