From your perspective as a doctor, should TO play in the Super Bowl or not?

Andrew,
I am not lemon but with what has been published on the nature and extent of his fracture and the hardware that is in his ankle, I would say absolutely not.
Could he play physically??? Probably with a couple of well placed injections of a long acting local anesthetic. Could he do irreparable damage to his ankle by playing.. a very emphatic yes!

Cymanca,
Thanks for your perspective. I keep hearing people say that the only real danger is that he will break the screw in his ankle and have to start his rehab all over again.
But it sounds like there is more extensive damage that could be done as well.

I am a rabid Eagles fan and I want TO to play, BUT if I was his doctor, I would not ADVISE him to play. The risk/reward here is not worth it. He has at least 4 more years of highly productive football to be played, and risking his long term longevity for this one game is not worth it (even if it is the SB).
P.S. Cy, you are an orthopod right?

LM ~
Greetings, fellow Iggle fan! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
Just received this in an email, thought I'd share:
Our father who art in the Linc, Donovan be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy 'Bowl will be won, in Jacksonville as it was in Philly. Give us this week our yearly win and forgive us our pass interferences as we forgive those who make field goals against us. Lead us NOW into interceptions, and deliver us the Trophy. Amen.
News said today that TO will probably play. Hopefully he will just be in for a handful of plays then stay on the bench! Pretty dumb if he reinjures himself and possibly ends his career!
9 days and counting! GO EAGLES!!!
