Google http://www.google.com/
has implemented a new feature wherein you can
type someone's telephone number into the search bar
and hit enter and then you will be given a map to
their house. Everyone should be aware of this!
(I don't think this works with cell phones, only home phone numbers with home addresses.)

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. Before posting this, I tested it by typing my telephone number in google.com. My phone number came up, and when I clicked on the MapQuest link, it actually mapped out where I live. Quite scary.

Please look up your own number. Think about it--
if a child, ANYONE gives out his/her phone
number, someone can actually now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming. In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to:

This was the case a couple of years ago, but Google was inundated with complaints, so it stopped the service.

I got it to work when I typed in my old phone #. So, they must not have changed it completely.

All I did was type in my area code and phone number..(DO NOT PUT A 1 BEFORE YOUR AREA CODE)

If your phone number is UNLISTED in the telephone directory, I don't think it will work, otherwise it will.

True, October and Hosea, try someone else's phone number just to test it!

Reply here, I am curious to know if it works for others as it did for me...I typed in my parents, several friends and two sisters home phone numbers and it showed their numbers and a map to their homes!

Don't add a 1 before the area code because it won't work if you do.

Just type in your area code and phone number ONLY.

It worked for a few numbers I punched in, mine didn't work, but it was unlisted until recently. It's possible to get some people's numbers, my Mom and Dad's came up...no problem.

Great for tracking down that WS on his/her cell phone call regestry. At this point it might not be such a bad thing.

Unlisted phone numbers don't show.

Cell phone numbers don't show either.

I will try to find out how to get your number
deleted from the Google registry.

I will be back shortly.

My phone number is unlisted so I guess that is why it doesn't show up.

You know, there's a lot of information to be had on the internet. I have found out TONS of stuff about the OW, most recently I just typed in her address on google, and got a realtor's site from before she bought her house (she just bought it this summer) So I can actually see inside her house. ALSO I went to a site called governmax and found out how much she paid for it etc. I also know the names/phone numbers of all her neighbors, I know her DOB, I know her SS#, I know what kind of car she drives, how much she paid for it, her license plate number her, her drivers license number, I know that she has been married, but there is no divorce I can find, I also know that she got a Failure To Yield, from a private drive (traffic ticket).

I don't know if this is true for everyone, but I can go to my counties clerk of courts homepage and pull up any criminal or traffic tickets anyone has had...it's public information, all you need is the name and a ballpark on the D.O.B. and you can get info on just about anyone....it even gives you their address where they were living at the time.

It's everything I can do not to give it all to some hacker.....maybe I will <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="images/icons/cool.gif" />

I started another thread how to remove our phone numbers but I will show it here also.

Below is the site for registry removal...I just removed our phone number by following the simple directions.

Here is the site for an easy removal form to fill out.
