Hi All,
I have read somewhere that Lance Armstrong is a WS. That he left his wife and children for Sheryl Crowe.
This REALLY bothered me because being a cancer survivor myself, he was an inspiration to me. I even bought his signature braclet and wore it for a while "LIVE STRONG".
I also have learned that Oprah is having them on as guests this week.
Anyone know if any of this is true?

I'm starting to think, like it or not, that we here on MB are the minority. That the majority of people believe marriage is a temporary situation if you start to "FEEL" differently.
Gawd! Now I have to throw out Sheryl Crowe's CDs.

Hey Jo....
I wondered about this at the timeit came up but somoe told me that he had left his wife, separated and divorced B4 Sheryl Crow...I think he and his wife separated in early 2003...got together again to celebrate his fth Tour win in 2003 and then finally divorced...
Here's a USA Today story from early last year (2004):
SOLVANG, Calif. — Lance Armstrong is facing five months of grueling training before attempting to win a record sixth Tour de France. He's constantly mobbed by autograph-seekers, reporters and paparazzi. He recently finalized an emotionally difficult divorce and misses his three children back in Austin. "I'm in a good, happy place," he says. "I've never been happier."
He's not kidding. The 32-year-old Armstrong's contentment comes from a new relationship with 41-year-old rock singer Sheryl Crow.
"Yeah, I wasn't single very long," he says, recovering from a solo training ride in winding roads near Santa Barbara. "I wasn't planning this, but then you meet somebody."
They became a public-twosome shortly after his divorce from wife Kristin was final in December.
"We're very similar," he says. "She likes to stay busy. She's always on, and I like that. We don't stay home. If we want, we go out for some Baja Fresh or to a Lakers game. When we're together, we never feel bothered or uncomfortable."
The couple spent Thanksgiving with Crow's parents and Christmas with his mom and her husband. Crow visited the U.S. Postal Service training camp here last week and had dinner with Armstrong's teammates.
"She's a very humble, down-to-earth person," he says. "Bright and intelligent."
Armstrong's mother, Linda, has already bonded with Crow.
"They're inseparable," he says. "She almost talks more with my mom than I do."
On Sunday, Crow made another visit to training camp and received an early gift for her Feb. 11 birthday from the five-time Tour de France winner: a top-of-the-line Trek Madone road bike, the same model he rides.
"She's not a cyclist," Armstrong says, "but she'll pick it up. She's very fit, and she surfs, hikes and does yoga."
Crow has not scheduled a new album or tour this year, so she'll be a visitor to Armstrong's Tour.
"She'll be around," he says. "Life is good." I guess take it for what it's worth....I'm still wearing my LIVESTRONG bracelet...with two fairly recent deaths from cancer in my life I figure I can still support the cause no matter what..
Take care
E

Not that it excuses or justifies anything, but Lance's own Dad made an early exit after he was was born and from what I know, had very little to do with his upbringing. Not sure if his mom ever remarried.

Hi ELad!
I saw your response to me on D/D. I haven't had a chance to respond back, but I wanted to say "hi" here too.
I read what you posted regarding Lance being divorced BEFORE he even met Sheryl. I hope that's the case, but I'm skeptical.
How's life E?

This certainly indicates they were having an affair while Lance was still married, and I lean towards thinking he left his marriage to be with her. duh ...

Uh, no, they weren't having an affair while he was married.
I've read a few interviews with Lance in which he spoke about his divorce. It was very difficult, but it was his career and constant traveling that did them in.
He became involved with Crow well after the D papers were being processed.
Why are we so quick to see demons behind every tree?
You'll find several MB'rs on the divorce boards that remarried fairly quickly afterwards...do we believe they were having an affair as well?

Lance Armstrong Denies Rumors
Lance Armstrong, five-time Tour de France champion, has strongly denied that there is any romance between him and Sandra Bullock.
Buzzle Staff Editor, 11/6/2003 4:50:00 PM It was reported last week that Armstrong had been seeing the Miss Congeniality star quietly for the past month or so. The rumor spread like wildfire after it was initially started. A couple of weeks ago a photo was taken showing the two looking chummy at a Men’s Journal party celebrating Armstrong’s new book "Every Second Counts." This picture sparked the rumors and there were even reports that Armstrong had given Bullock a bracelet that was inscribed with "You keep my heart racing."
Although Armstrong denies reports of a romance he does admit that they have had dinner together. "We have had dinner before, but it’s always been with big groups of people and totally innocent." He says the two are "just friends" and "there is nothing else to it." They actually live near one another in Austin, Texas. On the other side of the rumors, there have been reports that the one who has stolen Armstrong’s heart is singer Sheryl Crow. There have been reports that the cyclist and the songstress have been spending time together and that they are "smitten" with one another.
Armstrong recently split with his wife of five years. The couple has three children together. It has been reported that Armstrong’s infidelity led to the break-up of the marriage as well as the constant time spent apart. It was speculated that Armstrong became more involved in his celebrity than in his marriage, leaving Kristin to take care of three kids on her own. Whatever the case was behind the break-up of the marriage, he wasted no time moving on.

A reasonable association.
I witnessed it first hand with my WS and OM - and they WERE NOT having an affair!!! "I'm in love with OM! I'm NOT having an affair!!! WHAT PART OF THAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?????"
I'm not saying we can't be more objective, just that this is the reason. I really, really hope my initial conclusion about Lance was wrong. Don't forget, I lost a child to cancer and Lance represented a hero to me for his generous contributions.
But odds are - I bet - that the vast majority of quick re-marriages had their roots in infidelity. Isn't this intuitive?

Hey Jo
Yeah it could have been in the works before the divorce was finalized...here's a quote from his ex after they filed for divorce:
“[our marriage problems] were brought on gradually by a number of pressures, rather than one big blow-up. We’ve been together 4 1/2 years, and we’ve had six homes, three languages, three countries, one cancer comeback, three children, four Tour de France wins and one rise to celebrity. You’re not supposed to cram such a huge amount of events into such a small period of time.â€
I guess I have gotten to the point that I try not to judge other's situations too much....having been there and don all of that...I still find it sad, though when marriages end so easily....
As for me and my life.....hmmmmmm up and down I guess....next Tuesday (2/15) will be the fourth anniversary of D-day....I guess just by remembering that means it still hurts somewhere.
May 3 will be my anni-vorce-ery...one full year from finalizing...
My WS got dumped big time by her OM...now she can't stand him (go figure )...that happened long B4 the divorce...but try as we might have (and we did) it just wasn't possible to put back the pieces...quite sad really....
We talk a little from time to time but not much--a bit too painful for us both I think--but we are on good terms. And actually I am thankful for that.
I have been involved with someone...somewhat seriously I guess...although she lives 500 miles away so we don't see each other all the time...
None-the-less, like I said, lots of ups and downs...good times and bad...
I really just try to take it a day at a time...
So how's by you? Life treating you OK?

You know the Lance Armstrong thing doesn't bother me too much because I think (based on the Ex-wife's comment above) there was a lot of stuff going on there and there may not have been anyhting prior to the endof the marriage.
What does bother me a bit more is the how Julia Roberts is made out to be a saint on Oprah....I mean she swooped in and snagged some other woman's husband and then...just 'cause they made a couple of cute babies...it's like "whoa...this is just great and these are wonderful people..."
I probably shouldn't care because all of this is so prevalent but it justs strikes me the wrong way...

I didn't know that about Julia Roberts, E.
I'm just so sick of infidelity running rampant, and all their justifications and rationalizations.
Like I said, I think we are the minority. Maybe this is the new way to look at marriage, it's temporary until one feels differently.
Maybe there should be a second set of vows to chose from where you don't promise anything to one another but are guaranteed an exit at any given time.
I'm half way serious.

If I recall she was pretty well trashed here on GQII during all of this...anyway here's a quote from one of the sites that mentions this:
Actor BRAD PITT reportedly warned JULIA ROBERTS not to pursue her now- husband DANNY MODER when she first laid eyes on him, because she was still dating her former fiance BENJAMIN BRATT. The actress was immediately attracted to the cameraman when she spotted him strolling topless across the set of the 2001 movie THE MEXICAN - in which she co-starred with Pitt - according to JAMES SPADA's biography JULIA. Roberts and Pitt were relaxing in between takes when she allegedly asked the hunky actor, "Who's that young hunk of burning love?" Startled Pitt scolded her, saying, "Now, you be a good girl or I'm gonna tell on you," before Roberts replied, "Honey, someone needs to strip that boy down and bring him to my trailer." According to Spada, who has failed in his bid to elicit a response from Roberts about the books and her reported comments, it was Danny's toned body that attracted her. He says, "A friend told me Julia loves the six-pack ab thing."
Whatever....
Other than all of that...how's it going Jo?
