I'm planning for my future no matter what or whom it may hold. Due to money, moves, time and children, I have never finished my degree. I think that as a big step into whatever life I have, I want to finish my B.S degree.

I want to go to a once a week, one class at a time, fast program. Most of my credits are in Business Administration. I want to get the degree as quickly as possible. I want those credientials to get a better job in the fullness of time.

I've looked into the University of Phoenix. It seems more like a corporation than a school. The fees are enormous and there is catch after catch. I already have a DS in college and his fees aren't that high. Just the application fee is well over $100! On top of that, they will not accept upper class course credits that are over 10 years old. Mine are well beyond that.

I've also looked into a local Jesuit college that offers a similar program. I wonder if a degree from a place like that would carry more weight?

Has anybody been in a program like this? Does anybody know why an Internet classn is more expensive than one where you sit in front of an instructor? I'm just starting to pull my transcripts together.

Not all universities are so expensive. Look for some state supported schools that offer online degree programs. The Saturday programs are good, if you have the time to do it. Otherwise, I would think internet courses from a reliable and respected college would be just as good. Check in your area. Make calls. In Texas, where I live, Texas Tech does LOTS of online courses and especially in business. I think all the major universities are developing this sort of program. University of Phoenix gets lots of publicity, but why pay more if you can get it nearer to you? Especially since, as a taxpayer, you deserve to get your money's worth. There are even "semi live" courses taught as distance learning with lectures on satellite tv and faxing questions and assignments. You can check on them online, usually.

U of P is pretty close to my house. I just think the pricing is 'way too much. The local U where I got my original credits aren't offering accelerated classes. Maybe I'll check Texas Tech's program...out-of-state can't be worse $ than the others.
