I would very much appreciate some help in completing a survey. I have designed a survey at Survey Monkey to gather a general opinion on a topic. Please, if you have a minute, I would really appreciate it if you could complete the survey. It is only ONE QUESTION. Thank you in advance to all those who help.

Mike - what's your motive?

Just ask your question here.

I looked at your survey question and I know the answer most (if not all) will give. A no brainer.

This being your first post, I'm suspicious of what you're trying to accomplish.

Perhaps you're sincere and honestly don't know the "infidelity" routine.

Mike - you will NOT (well, hardly) get anything less here.

Your question suggests to me that you are on the receiving end of infidelity and the infidels are trying to reason that the "new" situation is better for the children. They may actually believe this, because they are trtying desperately to justify their affair. As a result, they are VERY sure of themselves and make it sound very convincing - so much so that you are at a loss as to how to combat this lunacy.

Post your story here and you'll get WAY more help than your survey would ever develop.

I think it's confusing and cruel for a young child to see Mommy or Daddy with their new lover.
Anyway, it's doubtful this person will be in the young child's life for long. Successful marriages rarely result from adultery and 2nd marriages have pretty low odds of success. It's wrong to expose a child to this new and most likely temporary person.

Also, IMO anyone who really cared about children would not commit adultery with their parent and break up a family. So I would find it extremely hard to believe that this person would be a good/safe person for a young child to be in contact with. Who knows what other moral lapses they suffer from?

Some states allow the betrayed parent to protect the children from exposure to the adultery partner - for good reason.
